Stripes and Velvet

Outfit Details:
Family Affairs dress
American Apparel turtleneck (last seen in this post)
socks from somewhere, probably Topshop
Swedish Hasbeens (c/o Swedish Hasbeens - more really cute styles here)

Don't be fooled by these Brooklyn-based photos; we're still in North Carolina. As a matter of fact, Bobby and I just drove around, looking for a stronger wi-fi signal just so I could get some work done. I've bought many an iced tea (or a cherry limeade) to make up for my use of an establishment's internet. We should be heading back tomorrow, but in the meantime you can follow along on my instagram.

A very important p.s. - Thank you for all of the well wishes. It means a lot to both of us.

  3. Keiko, treasure this time with your family. We lost my mother this time last year, and I'll keep the memories of the conversations I had with the people close to me during the time of her funeral close to my heart forever.

On another note, I've been thinking of investing in a pair of Swedish Hasbeens for months, but I've read some reviews that they aren't very comfortable. What do you think?

    1. I'm so sorry about your mother. My mom is my only parent, and I can't even imagine. But you're absolutely right - it was so nice to disconnect from everything and just spend time with his family.

About the Swedish Hasbeens - I think it depends on the person and the pair. These are very comfortable to me, but my red braided sky high ones needed a little breaking in. The leather needed to stretch to accommodate my wide feet. However, I think the fact that they're wooden with no padding is usually why people find them uncomfortable. That doesn't bother me at all, but maybe if you add some soft inserts?

  5. hope you're doing alright and having a good time with family- I LOVE that family affairs number and that older season similar gold/mustard one she made. such a great shape- it's so hard to find good loose A-line dresses in the states!

    1. Thank you! It was great to spend time with Bobby's family - easily some of the nicest people you'll ever meet:) As for loose a-line dresses, I usually go for vintage or asos (and of course asos isn't based in the US, but they ship here). For vintage, search "Trapeze" or "tent" - some of my favorites are vintage!
