I've been collecting and wearing vintage most of my life, and I often end up making minor alterations. It's something that a lot of vintage purists are against - admittedly, I can understand it - but for me, it's all about enjoying them. I've never treated my antique furniture or vintage clothing as museum objects. I live in them and give them new life. I bought this coat last year, and given the shape, the length was a little overwhelming on me. I brought up the hem quite a bit, and now it's one of my most well-loved and frequently worn coats. And isn't that better than just letting it hang in the closet?
p.s. These photos were taken at the farmhouse we rented through Airbnb, so unfortunately I don't know where the prints are from!
