I wasn't originally going to post these, since I look absolutely miserable, but the more I looked at them, the more I had to laugh at myself. If you've been following along for awhile, you probably know that I'm a longtime insomniac (since I was a child). I've been on and off, in the last few years - I'll have good nights and really, really bad ones. On this particular day, I was not only under the weather, but hadn't slept in almost 48 hours. While I could do that with ease when I was in college, I can't handle that anymore. I don't know why I decided I should still try and be a functioning human being at this point, but I did - and failed. Look at that frown! After about two minutes or less of trying to take some pictures, I dramatically slumped my shoulders and cried, "I'm. so. tired!" and immediately fell asleep on the car ride home. And this, my friends, is why insomnia is the absolute worst. It makes you act like a five year old child, and it also gives you puffy under eye circles.

  1. Despite the insomnia, you still look gorgeous!
I've recently become an insomniac (sometime in the last year) and completely understand what you mean. I have no idea how my body manages to function after a week straight of only getting a total of 3 hours of sleep each night, but somehow I manage to find matching socks in the morning and drag myself out of bed.

Have you ever tried any remedies to try to fix the sleep patterns? One of my friends recently recommended melatonin supplements, but after reading about the polarizing spectrum of side effects, I'm on the fence about giving it a try.

Hope you have a great Monday, beautiful!

  9. I've also suffered from insomnia since I was a child. It's the worst. Right now I'm unemployed, so my sleep schedule is just beyond horrible. And it's really made my insomnia act up. I'll go days without sleeping and then days when I can't get out of bed before 1 pm. It's the worst! Have you ever tried melatonin? I'm considering it...

  10. I think you still look quite lovely, but when feels awful it just seems to feel like it must be obvious. I'm so sorry you were having such rough nights, especially on top of being sick.

  16. Those knee-highs are simply adorable. I love the way you layer tank dresses over blouses, I'm going to try that very soon in lieu of a cardigan like usual!

  21. Haha I know what you mean. If I don't get enough sleep my mood instantly suffers. It's pretty bad. At least getting some sleep solves it! I don't think you look overly miserable in these pictures though. Your adorable outfit makes up for your non-smiling face!

  22. I totally understand you on the insomniac thing as well. I suffer with it and it's really hard to function during the day. Hope you get your much needed sleep! xo

  24. Well you're miserably fabulous, because if it weren't for the anecdote I would never have known! The colors combination of the outfit is my favorite part but I'm biased; I love fall colors!

  28. Don't be down on yourself, you look beautiful! I wish if I was that tired I'd be able to put effort into my clothes let alone go anywhere! I'd just be pulling a grumpy cat face in my owl onesie.

  32. As a fellow insomniac, I feel your pain. The under eye circles, headaches, sore muscles... Sleep is so critical and it's just such a horrible feeling not to get the hours you need...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Don't say that! You look lovely as always :)
I'm sure Miku keeps you company on those endless nights! <3

  34. What a super cute outfit! Loving the mix of florals and polka dots. And I've had bad insomnia at times too and I know how debilitating it can be. Sending some good sleep vibes :)
