call me, maybe

Outfit Details:
Dahlia bed jacket - Postlapsaria
camisole and bracelets - Forever 21

lace MAC - Rebecca Minkoff sample sale
belt - thrifted
lipstick - MAC Chatterbox
Viola heels (my shoe favorite of the month!) - Sole Society (use code KEIKO15 for $15 off your first purchase)

Since I only brought a couple different pairs of shoes with me, this second delivery from Sole Society (read more about my fashion insider partnership here) couldn't have come at a better time. I wore these while running up and down Magazine street, today - but that's another story that I'll save for a time when I'm more awake. It's pretty awesome. I have to clear it with Christine before I can share it on a public platform.

I'm having such a blast in New Orleans; I don't want it to end! As much as we love the boys, it's so nice to have a girls only trip. In the short time we've been here, we've already created so many lasting memories. There's just something about New Orleans - it's a magical place. It doesn't hurt that we have some truly wonderful friends in this city who are always the best hosts. Ladies and gents (you know who you are!), you all are the best. Call me, maybe!

Governors Island Jazz Age Lawn Party

The Governors Island Jazz Age Lawn Party is one of my favorite summer traditions; I was so happy that the girls were here to attend! Tessa and Ally went with Bobby and me last year, but this was Claire's first visit to NYC, let alone Governors Island. It feels like a different world there, but nothing is better than seeing everyone dressed up, dancing, and having picnics and tug-o-wars in the already beautiful setting. If you live or will be in NYC in August, make sure to check it out on the 18th and 19th!

el niño

Schoolboy bag - c/o Rebecca Minkoff
glasses - Warby Parker Tenleys

Just looking at these pictures is making me break out into a sweat, since it is currently in the mid to high 90s. Would you believe that just a few days ago, I was actually cold in this outfit? It was windy and in the 60s. This wackadoo weather reminds me of Florida, where it can be raining one second and perfectly sunny the next. Or even better, raining on your lawn and dry in your driveway. We always blamed it on El Niño when I was younger, but truth be told, I had no idea what that meant. I used to just throw my hands up in the air and sigh, "That darn El Niño."

My little sis and friends (aka The Trendy Trio, Cab Ride Rascals, and other names I am just pulling out of thin air) are still in town, and time is flying by. I love when my little sister is in town! Now that I think about it, maybe Tessa brought this icky sticky hot weather with her from Florida. Nah, definitely El Niño.

Styleowner

Today marks the official launch of my StyleOwner storefront! I combed through the extensive list of products available through StyleOwner to fill my shop with some of my favorite things, from beauty products to handbags and clothing. The idea behind StyleOwner is to empower women to be entrepreneurs - and the best part is, they don't have to invest any of their own money into it.

With StyleOwner, you can set up and completely customize your own shop (it is completely free!) with all of your favorite items. If someone buys an item from your shop, the retailer ships it directly to them and then you receive a 10% commission. You can market your store on social networks or even with your friends - it's a cool way to personalize their shopping experience and act as a stylist for them! With the money you make from sales, you have three choices: receive a check, use the credit to make your own purchases, or donate it to charity.

I'm using my StyleOwner to raise money for Free Arts NYC, an organization that provides educational arts and mentoring to low income, homeless, abused, and neglected children. Please check out my shop and let me know if you set up your own.

adopt a best friend, this saturday!

Miku is posing with a pair of my favorite Seychelles shoes in honor of Lord & Taylor's Perfect Pairs Pet Adoption Day! This Saturday, June 23rd from 1PM-5PM, Lord & Taylor will be hosting rescued pets who are available for adoption. I'm hoping that all of the animals will find loving new homes! Read more about the adoption event and its participants here. Please spread the word and get these animals adopted! Remember, it's in all of their stores - not just NYC!

If you're a longtime reader, you probably already know the stories behind my animal friends. People ask me all the time who Miku's breeder was, but not only is she a mutt, like her mama - she's adopted! Here's the story behind my four fur babies: I adopted Miku from one of Tessa's schoolmates (when she was in elementary school), Kitty Boos was a flea-bitten, roughed up stray kitten found near my mom's ranch, and Vester and Lacy (biological siblings) were part of a litter who were dumped on the side of a road. All my life, we have always adopted or rescued animals. There are so many homeless animals in need of a loving family!

My sister's dog, Axle (the giant dog who frequents my instagram) was scheduled to be put to sleep the very day my sister found him. He is about as perfect as a dog can get: gentle, loving, smart, and well behaved. No one can ever believe that he was going to be put down! Her cat, Pinky, was also adopted from the pound - he was a very sick little kitten with a broken tail, and without pads on his feet. Knowing no one else in their right mind would adopt him, we took him home and doctored him up. Noticing a pattern, here? And if you think you can't get a purebred at a shelter, you're wrong. My childhood buddy Teddy, the best Golden Retriever who ever lived, was proof of that.

I hope that all of you animal lovers will consider adopting when you are ready to introduce a furry friend into your home. And if you're ready now, please stop by Lord & Taylor this Saturday. You just might meet your match!

sole society

Outfit Details:
vintage dress - c/o The Kissing Tree Vintage (excuse the wrinkles - I was sitting in a car for hours)
heart tights - c/o ModCloth
Rebecca Minkoff Swing Bag - Confederacy in LA
red and black platform Kyle loafers - Sole Society (use code KEIKO15 for $15 off your first purchase - that would make these shoes $34.95!)
lipstick - MAC Russian Red

Do not adjust your calendars. Today is not Valentines' Day, despite what this overtly festive ensemble might suggest. That being said, I should probably recycle this outfit in February.

Since I'm a pigeon-toed girl who trips over her own feet, I've never been one to invest in luxury-priced shoes. Admire them from afar, yes, but I stick to more moderately priced footwear. Plus, I'm on a budget - like most of you probably are. Sole Society, an online shoe company who keeps their prices low by cutting out the middle man and selling directly to consumers, recently asked me to be one of their featured fashion insiders. I jumped at the opportunity to fill my online closet with some of my favorite picks, like these red and black platforms I'm wearing here! Since they have a new pair of shoes every day, I've been constantly switching up my closet. Follow me (click the plus sign next to my profile pic) to keep up with my current favorites, and make sure to use the code KEIKO15 for $15 off your first purchase.

and speaking of glasses...

Ever since I started wearing glasses, I've developed a bit of an obsession. It all started with the Ray-Bans, and now I'm up to eight pairs (my vintage frames aren't pictured - oops)! With sites like Warby Parker and BonLook, who have prescription glasses for under $100, it's a lot easier to purchase multiple pairs to put into rotation - though I admit that eight is probably more than necessary. I tend to go overboard, but I also have been lucky to receive a few pairs as gifts. Since I wear glasses on a daily basis, it's nice to have a lot to choose from!

My frames, in order of photographs: Ray-Ban RB5226, Honeybadger c/o BonLook, Winston from Warby Parker, Crosby from Warby Parker, Versace red glasses c/o LensCrafters,  Jungle Chic c/o BonLook, Tenley from Warby Parker.
