American Apparel cable knit sweater and polka dot shirt - American Apparel

I have worn these pants half a dozen times since I bought them - each time, in a different way (unlike this repeat outfit). I guess you wouldn't think that floral pants could be such a staple in anyone's wardrobe, but the color palette is just subtle enough that the pattern almost acts as a neutral. Don't be surprised if you see these pants pop up in future outfit posts...I'm a little bit in love.
On that topic: I'm usually not a pants girl, since I have a hard time finding pairs (that aren't jeans) that fit me properly. But lately, I've been wanting to add a few to my closet. I'm a little bit pear shaped, and find that they are often too big in the waist or they flatten my butt/pull at the hips. Any brand suggestions?
P.s. thanks you for all of the jeans suggestions, but I'm actually looking for non-jeans pants. I have great luck with Hudson, J Brand, Paige, some Levis and believe it or not, forever 21! I especially recommend the Hudson Georgia may mid rise for people with my shape.

Gap jeans seem to fit me the best and I'm short and curvy.
ReplyDeleteI have that sweater! I love it.
love your vest!

I tried those pants on. I completely agree with you about the print being subtle enough to wear with so many things! It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun, pretty look! The floral pants are to die for!

Nice sweater:)
ReplyDeleteI have a decent size butt and thicker thighs so I also have a hard time find a decent jean since most tend to have that gap in the back. But I must say J. Brand Jeans are probably my favorite. Also H&M's Divided line is great too.

Wow! So many layers, colors and it all goes so well together! Girl, you have so much style! :)

I love the bag! Also, you layer so well!

H&M Divided. Some of the pants don't always fit right, but every now and then, I find a perfect pair!
ReplyDeleteI have issues with pants fitting properly, too. Recently I ordered a pair of Kut from the Kloth pants from Nordstroms and am in love with how they fit and make my rear end look. I will be buying more from this brand in the future!
ReplyDeleteKeiko, those pants are absolutely darling. Such a pretty colour scheme your outfit has, too. x

Those pants are too great. I am pear shaped as well--and generally stick to jeans or skirts! If you find some that fit--please post about them.
ReplyDeleteLEVI'S CURVE ID JEANS! I own a pair of black Bold Curve jeans from Levi's and they are the most comfortable pants i've ever owned. They have a series of different curves (slight, demi, bold, supreme) for women of all shapes. I have always despised pants and jeans for the same gap-at-the-waist-or-smushed-butt problem you have encountered and these have completely turned me around! Definitely check them out!

I have the same problem, Keiko...I'm very pear-shaped and pants shopping is a nightmare! I will say that Gap jeans & trousers are the best that I have found. But, otherwise, buy what fits through the hips/thighs and take them into the tailor to have the waist made smaller. :(

you always look so cute! :) I wish I could suggest brands of pants---I have the same luck as you :/

Love the floral pants! Too cute. I just found theee best pants for a slight pear shape: jbrand mid-rise jeans. That little extra curve/fabric at the waist hits me in a perfect spot, without pulling at the hips. I got the pencil leg style, and I can't stop wearing these pants... going to go get a second pair.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you layer and utilize different patterns like the floral and polka dots...so perfect and not at all overwhelming like I would think. :) -Lo
ReplyDeleteHi! I do blog outreach on behalf of True Fit who launched their fit technology on macys.com/jeans this past fall. If you enter some info about what brands and sizes you currently have in your closet and some basic questions about your body type, True Fit gives you personalized fit and size recommendations, as well as fit details about how each style will fit you. You should definitely check it out— and they are launching with other major retailers soon so you’ll be able to find your true fit at many places you love to shop. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI love the soft colors of this outfit mixed with the toughness of the vest. It's a great combo! The socks are a fun surprise xx

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pants! I've been wanting to get a floral pair lately. I'm fairly curvy, and the only pairs of pants I've ever had fit me properly are Gap jeans and Levi's demi curve jeans. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any regular pants that I love.
ReplyDeletei've been obsessing over the navy pair of these floral pants all weekend. tried them on in anthro and i loved them! and now seeing how good they look on you, i want them more. so happy to hear that they're worn constantly!
ReplyDeletei love the colour of the vest. perfect cargo green

I have a hard time because I have short legs, but not short enough to buy the "shorts" esp if I want to wear with heals ect. I also have thick thighs but not a large waist. I have fallen in love with buying my jeans from the buckle because they will hem them for you the day you buy them for free (I take forever to get pants hemmed and usually never do but this takes some of the work out of it) but also I have found that paying more (though I hate to, I am more a forever21 type girl for shopping) gets the fit better and they dont wash funny and stay the same shape, and are so comfortable, I dont ever have a day where I dread putting in uncomfortable too tight jeans anymore or saggy bottom jeans because they didnt hold their shape.
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of the other girls, I'm kind of short and have curvy hips/thighs. I've found that Gap's jeans usually fit me best...they fit the curves without gaping at the waist (if you don't get a super low-rise pair).
ReplyDeleteOh, and Ann Taylor LOFT has awesome-fitting pants, too...tons of sizes & styles, and they work on people who aren't just stick-skinny. :)
ReplyDeletelove the floral print. i love gap jeans because they always fit well, and they have so many different styles for different body types. and surprisingly, forever 21 jeans always fit me really well AND they're super cheap. win!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!!:)

ReplyDeleteseriously adorable combo!
ReplyDeleteSo cute love the layering going on here.
ReplyDeleteoooh I love and neeeed floral pants, you look super cute <3
ReplyDeleteLevi curve - the first and only pair of jeans that I've worn where I don't NEED a belt. I have a much more curved ass than waist and always gape in the back but not with these!
ReplyDeleteI actually love American Apparel pants. I think they make a lot of their stuff wider at the hips, so it really suits my shape (I always have the same problem as you). the high-waisted pleated pants are perfect.
ReplyDeleteyou look very pretty, and I love that sweater. :)
