Makeup Monday: Lip Flash

I'm giving my eyes a break from makeup while my right eye's inflammation calms down (hence the sunglasses and profile shot), so I thought this would be a perfect time to try out my new lip colors from Milani. When I first got into makeup, I couldn't afford the MAC I coveted, so I turned to Milani for high impact makeup. Back then, their single shadows were vastly superior to the palettes they offer now, but I still find myself turning to their products when I'm looking for something new (and affordable!) to try out. After a reader wrote to me and suggested I try these Milani Lip Flashes, I went to CVS (full disclosure: I am a paid member of their Beauty Club Beauty Board - but I paid for and used these on my own) and picked up a few different colors to test drive.

I'm pretty happy with them - they're all very shimmery but not gritty, and the colors are beautiful. My favorite is the bright fuchsia 06 Flashy, which is highly pigmented.  07 In A Flash would have been my favorite based on the color, but it's a little glossier and less pigmented than I would like. 03 Flashlight perfectly matches my glasses, which is fun, but I was hoping it would have more of an orange tint (it's a cherry red).

  6. i tend to stick to revlon tubes for lip color, because it is affordable and easy to re-apply. i have a few very expensive pigments in fonts, and i end up never using them because of the hassle. sigh.

  17. I have to be honest, I have never really gotten into bright lip colors. The main reason is that I inherited tiny lips, which looks funny with a pop of color. I've tried the red lip, but I also feel more self conscious about my tiny lips.
    Anyways, I love how you are able to try and use any color. You are blessed with beautiful lips.

  29. I think 06 is my favorite (the middle one), and I love trying products at CVS because of their 100% guarantee, if you don't like it, return it, no problem.

    I recently started experimenting with lipsticks too, something I have previously shied away from, but I'm loving it!

  43. I almost picked up flash light the other day but thought it might be too glittery. It looks really nice on you though so I might just give it a try. Much cheaper alternative to the urban decay high gloss lip pencils! (Oh and you might want to try some warm chamomile tea bags on your eye... usually helps me!)

  50. Lisa Griffin: That's the main issue I have with these - they don't have any options without glitter. I'm more of a matte or creamy finish kind of gal, or slight gloss. If you want something like this without the glitter, try out the Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss pencils.

  51. Pink Glitter: The only one (out of these three) that is similar to the high gloss pencils from UD is the "flashy" one (my favorite). My fave UD pencils are the non-glittery ones, and Milani doesn't have any without glitter. That's my only beef with these - I'd love one without the shimmer!
