Casual Living

Outfit Details:
cardigan - c/o American Living by jcpenney
shirt - Gap
belt - thrifted
pants - Forever 21
Romance boots - c/o Seychelles
glasses - Ray-Ban

The kind folks at American Living by jcpenney allowed me to pick out a piece from their collection and I immediately gravitated toward this draped cardigan. I've noticed that I'm lacking more casual pieces in my closet, so I've been slowly stocking up on basics and comfy separates for Fall. I'm slowly bringing out the sweaters and the coats are waiting for their [unwelcome] debut. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to Autumn weather and hope it sticks around for longer than expected. Fall, good. Winter, bad!

On Sunday Morning

Outfit Details:
vintage scarf (see head scarf how-to here) - Hourglass Consignment
sweater and shorts - H&M
Ray-Ban Wayfarers
Acorn Trinket Flats - c/o Anthropologie
lipstick: MAC Vegas Volt

Elie Tahari recently launched ETC, their new online magazine, and asked me to take them on a photo tour of my day. Since my weekdays pretty much involve me alternating sitting at my sewing machine and sitting at my computer, I settled on a leisurely Sunday. Check out ETC (click on contributors - I'm on page five and six) for more photos from my day. I'll post the rest of the photos soon, but in the meantime, here's some snaps from my morning with Miku!
(p.s. Miku is wearing a Gentle Leader.)

Makeup Monday: Cheap Thrills and Quick Changes

(Revlon lipsticks - all purchased at CVS)

When it comes to drugstore brands, I'm a bit of a Revlon fan girl. I'm particularly fond of their lipsticks, which come in a bajillion (give or take a few) shades and finishes. I'm a lipstick girl for more than one reason, but mostly, I love that it can change your look in just one step! Since becoming a CVS Beauty Board member, I've probably been spending a little too much time in their makeup aisle. I only recommend products I actually use and stand by, so naturally I have to try everything out. I've found a slew of new favorites (and a couple of misses, which I promptly returned) in the Revlon lipstick section alone, which I have showcased in the pictures above.

Isn't it crazy how just one swipe of lipstick can completely change your look? I'm wearing the same face and eye makeup in each (though the lighting is different in a few). What's your favorite lipstick of the moment?

Win three products of your choice, courtesy of Nuance Salma Hayek!

As a member of the CVS Beauty Club Beauty Board, I had the pleasure of meeting and having lunch with Salma Hayek, the creator of Nuance (see my post on Nuance here). Though I already read how involved Salma was in developing her line of cosmetics, haircare and skincare, it became even clearer to me how much of her heart and soul she poured into this collection. When I say this lady knows her stuff, I mean she knows every ingredient that goes into each product and what its benefits are - and might even have a personal story to go along with it. I was blown away and incredibly inspired. She could have just slapped her name on it and called it a day but instead, she spent years ensuring that everything was just so.

When one of the attendees asked her what product she would recommend for every woman, she answered very honestly that it completely depends on the woman's needs and preferences. There were no one-size-fits-all products, and that's why she offered such an expansive variety. When CVS and Nuance offered to hold a giveaway for my readers, I took her sentiment to heart and decided, what better way than to let you decide on your own three favorite products?

THREE of my lucky winners will get to choose their three favorite products!

To enter, check out the Nuance tab on the CVS Beauty Club Facebook and pick out your three favorite products. Then, leave a comment here with the three choices you would like to win!

If you need help picking out your products, browse Salma's videos on the collection, her inspiration and her favorite products!

Entries will be accepted until this Friday, September 30th, 9 pm EST. Winners will be contacted directly and announced in this post. Good luck!

Rain Check

Due to the excessive rain, the Frye pop-up shop at the Brooklyn Flea is being postponed. I'm hoping we'll be able to reschedule soon; I will keep you updated!

Win this bag from Loehmanns!

I recently attended a fun Loehmanns event with some friends of mine, where we ran the gamut of the store and had a chance to meet one of my (and many others') style icons, Iris Apfel!

They also kindly allowed me to pick out an accessory for one of my lucky readers. I immediately went to the handbag section and found this great Melie Bianco bag, which both Kimberly and I already have (in another color). It's a great everyday bag that can be carried by the top handle, as a messenger or with a shortened, over the shoulder strap. We love it - so I hope you will love it, too!

Want to win this bag? Simply visit Loehmanns and leave a comment below
(if you don't leave your email, make sure your email or twitter is easy for me to find on your blog). I'll be accepting entries until tomorrow (Saturday, 24th) at 9 pm. Good luck!

The winner is Destrehan's Daughter.

Giraffe - Tallest Mammal

Outfit Details:
shirt - c/o DVF
vintage giraffe sweater - Frock you! Vintage Boutique (in San Diego)
shorts - H&M
boxy tote - c/o Foley + Corinna
vintage glasses - Guvnor's Vintage
Ladies, if you want to bring the men in, wear an animal themed sweater. I've found the secret.

There's something about a giraffe sweater that people simply cannot resist. I think I got more compliments on this kooky sweater than I ever have on anything else. I actually had a guy whistle at me. I was wearing a giraffe sweater and I got whistled at - which never happens in my normal life. The most I usually get is, "Hey you, move out of the way so I can see your hot friend!" True story. I like to think it's because I put out a cat-call-and-I'll-cut-you vibe. I also do not wear nearly enough giraffe sweaters.

Man-magnetism aside, my friend Vanessa's comment was the best of the day: "I think it's adorable. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it, but it's adorable."

Clearly, she is just upset that it is vintage and therefore not readily available for her own closet. Her birthday is coming up...maybe I can track one down for her. A kitty themed one, perhaps?

p.s. If you know where my title is from, you are a winner (of nothing tangible, but you're still a winner).

DVF

A group of us (Christine, Lindsey, Helena, Tess and myself) were invited (by Refinery29) to the DVF SoHo store for a little dress up time. We each had to showcase and create an outfit around a particular pair of shoes. Be sure to check out how all of the ladies styled themselves and vote for your favorite. The winner will get to keep their head to toe ensemble, which I'm pretty sure none of us were aware of. We just thought we were having a good time. Good luck to all of the ladies who participated!

Postlapsaria Sneak Peek

Outfit Details:
fringe and lace crop top - Postlapsaria (coming VERY soon)
DKNY cami
Jessica Simpson jeans
hat - Urban Outfitters
sunglasses - c/o Juicy Couture
rings - Forever 21 and Fancy Sexy Me
Frye boots - c/o Frye (visit us at the Brooklyn Flea this Saturday!)

I've been getting a lot of inquiries about Postlapsaria's relaunch and believe me, there is no one who wants the site back up as much as I do! My friend has been redoing the site and we had a bit of a hiccup in the process, which set back the relaunch a little more than expected. I'm having all of the clothing photographed before I leave for Florida, so I finally feel like I can start wearing some of the garments. I was hesitant to do any previews because I'm not doing pre-orders - some of the items are really limited, depending on the fabric (there are less than ten of this top in this fabric). However, since everything but the photos are done, I'll be giving my readers sneak peeks throughout the next couple of weeks!

These tops come in several different fabrics and colored laces, with or without fringe (it also comes in different lengths). I wear these pretty often - usually the ones without the fringe - with jeans, over dresses, skirts, etc. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing a different one right now!

Win a $50 Credit to Ruche!

Today's giveaway is courtesy of Ruche, who is offering one of my lucky readers a $50 credit to their online store.

The winner is Ashley in Wonderland.

Meet me at The Brooklyn Flea!

Frye must have heard that I practically live at The Brooklyn Flea, because they invited me to join them there this Saturday, as their guest FryeSpotter! I'll be searching for (and photographing) people with great personal style and attendees will get a limited edition gift from Frye. And if you want personal style tips or help finding the perfect pair of boots, I'm your girl.

Come by and see me, get photographed and be featured here and on The Frye Company's Facebook Page. See you this Saturday!

can I get a what what

Outfit Details:
glasses - Ray-Ban
shirt - H&M
pants - Urban Outfitters
platforms - c/o Joie
Collina Strada bag - c/o Emerging Thoughts
bear ring - Sea of Bees c/o Emerging Thoughts
K ring and "Star Trek" stackable rings - Fancy Sexy Me (got them at Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg)
fitbit - wore it for Nine West Runway Relief during fashion week

Kimberly and I spent a day doing what we both love: eating and shopping at flea markets...and then eating some more. We now have matching "K" friendship rings because we're cheeseballs - and tattoo shops were closed for the day, so the rings were the next best thing (absolutely kidding about that).

On another cheeseball-related note, Kim's blog can now be found at canigetawhatwhat.com. Same blog, new name. Does she win a prize for best name ever? I think she should.
