Makeup Monday: Gilded Eye

What I used: 1) Urban Decay Primer Potion, 2) Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #11, 3) Urban Decay Black Palette (I used Cobra, the black shadow with gold flecks, and the Zero pencil), 4) Urban Decay Naked2 Palette (I used Bootycall to highlight), 5) Almay One Coat Mascara, 6) MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Love Forever!
(If you need alternative product suggestions, ask me on twitter!)

I bought this gold Aqua Cream months ago, but I only rediscovered it the other day. It somehow got lost in the sea of makeup that consumes my life (I really should find a better way to organize); I end up going back to the same products over and over because I forget about everything else I have. After using this aqua cream again, I doubt I'll forget it again. Whether alone or paired with gold-flecked dark shadow for a metallic smokey eye, this intense, beautiful gold is perfect for a statement eye.

Kim from Eat.Sleep.Wear. was in town to help me with the blogger garage sale for Women In Need (more on that, later!), so I asked her to be my lovely model for this look.  Thank you, Kim!

Want to know how to recreate this look? Continue reading after the jump for step by step instructions.

p.s. I know it's Tuesday, but we'll still call it Makeup Monday;)

Gorgeous look! What makeup brushes did you use to create this?

This is gorgeous! I am always amazed at how you can make such bold color combo's look so classy.

I also have a question - I'm not sure if you've answered this before somewhere else, I'm sorry if you have, but do you use an external flash like a speedlight to take these pictures? I only ask because I remember you saying you did a Makeup Monday in the middle of the night once (haha) and I was wondering how else you could have such great lighting. I'm looking for a flash right now to do some product photography, and if you use one I would love to know if you would recommend it. Thanks so much!

Liz: I use an SB 600 for fill but I also have a photo light that Bobby got for me a long time ago. I need to get a beauty dish but this one has served me well over the years! I don't know what it's called, though. It's a continuous light.

Maya: I will edit to add! They're all Urban Decay. I have to finish my brush post...I decided to post it after the holidays because I was too busy!

Vintage Hippo: I think the black palette is an unsung hero. I love the subtle differences in all of them - they have great dimension.

You are so inspirational. Not only from trying out bold eye colors, but from your fashion sense and knowledge of fashion. You help to inspire me to make a blog of my own, instead of just following others and wishing and dreaming. Thanks :]

Cool tutorial. Looks kind of like what I was trying to apply to my sister a few days ago. Personally if I were to recreate this look I would maybe swap the lip color for a more subtle pink so the eyes could standout even more.

Thank you for this look, it would be perfect for me to re-create with my L'Oreal Infaillible Goldmine shade. I think the US equivalent is the Eternal Sunshine one.
