What's better than a grandpa cardigan? A grandpa cardigan with elbow patches. Ever since I was in high school, I've been mildly in love with that little detail. It all started because while I was going through my "I think I'm Annie Hall" phase / wearing equestrian gear to school (it sounds way more chic than it actually was - I really just looked like a very awkward boy), my mom gave me one of her corduroy blazers from when she was in high school. In fact, I still have it today - you can see it here. I was already having a bit of a corduroy and velvet blazer moment, but the elbow patches sealed the deal. Plus, I've always loved my mom's hand-me-downs.
Well, the ones that I can fit into. That skinny b****.
(Love you, mom!)

I love your skirt and your tights! Adorable outfit!

I love my mom's hand-me-downs too, when I can fit them. She was a tiny tiny little lady back in the day! Haha. Anyways, I love this outfit Keiko, especially that skirt and "grandpa" sweater! :)
ReplyDeleteyour nails are so precious! C: they're very unique. i just got red sparkles for the holiday season ;p

ahaha! does your mom read your blog? I totally went through an annie hall phase too! it started as a tentative halloween costume and then just turned into how I dressed for the rest of the year because it was too cute to reserve for a costume. cute elbow patches:) my friend and I just had an elbow patch sewing party:)
ReplyDeleteGrandpa cards are so comfy. Love the elbow patches. They give grandpa cards something extra.

Keiko! I've got those same Seychelles shoes in my closet, but I'm reluctant to wear them since I'm not sure they'll be comfortable throughout the day. Do you find these shoes to be decent all-day shoes, or are they only good for a few hours?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
while I'm not a lover of elbow patches, I have to admit I'm crazy about your shoes! and your nails look great to, I just did this the other week with red, simple but pretty! have a great week :)

ReplyDeleteMy mom once gave away a lot of clothes from the time when she was my age now. INcluding dresses I had been longing for since I was a teenager. I'm still not over it :)
I agree, elbow patches are pretty much the cherries on top of corduroy and velvet. x

the pattern on that skirt is amazing! and matching tights to shoes is a great idea. we do it all the time with black tights and shoes, why can't other colours have a turn?

ReplyDeleteThat is a great sweater. I like how it looks kind of ombre in some of the photos. Elbow patches are a great little detail to spruce up a classic piece. I don't think they will ever go out of style.
