For me, it's not about wearing a conventionally flattering silhouette or even hiding my body. It's just about wearing clothes that make me feel like me. It could be a va-va-voom body-con dress or a shapeless sack; if it makes me feel great, I'm wearing it. It's natural to dress to impress others, or even at the opposite end of the spectrum, to repel them as an act of mild rebellion. But at the end of the day, you're the one stuck wearing the clothes. Above all, dress for yourself.

ohh, i LOVE the FP dress on you! and the jessica simpson platforms are perfect.
ReplyDeletesuch good 'dress for yourself' advice! golden.
Totally agree with you, Keiko. This dress is very "you". Love the muted colour palette and that domed ring is incredible.

ReplyDeleteSometimes, though, when I'm getting dressed and I'm feeling great, I look in the mirror and just shake my head and try on something else. Maybe I shouldn't look in the mirror...?

Oh, man this is weird. I JUST posted about this. I actually used a picture from your blog that I found on Pinterest. I linked it back to the pin, which links to your blog. Here's the post I wrote http://lamunyonjourneys.blogspot.com/2011/11/day-8-owning-your-own-style.html, just in case you wanted to check it out (I'm not 100% on the blog etiquette on that). But I'm a way small time blogger, so it's all good.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog so much, I'm pretty much a lurker, but the coincidence of posting about the same topic was comment worthy, at least for me.
What I love the most about your blog is that you obviously know who you are, and have developed a confidence in your choices - stylistically. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautifully said Miss. Keiko <3
ReplyDeleteWell put, lady. I don't think there is any silhouette you don't look gorgeous in, btw.
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage purse. It has the perfect amount of wear to it! :)

ReplyDeleteAWWW, LOOOOVE YOUR DRESS!! SOOO PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteLove the color as well! ♥
You look great! :D
Hell yeas! People should dress for them selves, I always have. Some girls dress to compete with other girls. Ugh, I think that is just so stupid, and must be tiring. O.o
-Eliza :)
What a beautiful, feminine dress. I think I do dress for myself most of the time- but I had to learn to do it and not worry about looking conservative (blah).

Can you tell me how your hat stays on your head? I've this amazing fedora vintage hat and I love to wear it. But the only way to let it stay on my head is to wear it too tight (its actually a bit too small for me, but i thought that was better than my hat falling of).
ReplyDeleteI can wear my hat the way you do and it wouldn't be too tight (a little bit backwards). But it would fall of...
Looking gorgeous Keiko! This dress is absolutely amazing on you :)
ReplyDeletexxx,
