I choose awareness

Outfit Details:
Striped Jersey Boatneck - c/o Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren (save 25% with code RLGIVE2011 - and 10% of your purchase will be donated to the Pink Pony Fund)
Rebecca Minkoff MAC - c/o Rebecca Minkoff (last year)
pink heels - jcrew
sleeveless trench - Forever 21
vintage necklace - birthday gift from Kim
bracelets - Forever 21
jeans - c/o HUDSON (for each pair of jeans sold during October, they are donating $5 to BCRF)
lipstick - Revlon Wild Orchid

Bobby is clearly much better at making signs than I am, but our hearts are in the same place. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and  Bobby and I teamed up with HUDSON to help spread awareness and raise funds toward finding a cure. $5 for every pair of HUDSON jeans sold during the month of October will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Many companies are raising funds for BCRF - click here for an array of "pink products." Of course, you don't have to shop in order to make a difference! Visit BCRF to find other ways to get involved.

Remember to give yourself a breast exam monthly, and visit your doctor if you find any irregularities.  Early detection can save your life. Visit Susan G. Komen for helpful information on where to get screened. Be proactive!

  2. Be sure to check where the money from your pink products is being donated. Some 'charities' are capitalizing on women's breasts but hardly donating anything toward the cause.

  15. I support a huge range of causes but I always find the marketing gimmicks like "10% of proceeds are donated to _____" annoying because honestly wouldn't it be better if you just didn't purchase that item and donated ALL that money to the cause? The donation is just a way for the company to increase sales and give off the impression that they are doing good. In my opinion, if you truly support a cause either donate your money directly or at least buy products that give a LARGE proportion of the proceeds to charity (ie MAC Viva Glam). Just my two cents

  42. Victoria: That's exactly why I included the part about donating directly. The thing is, some people need an incentive to donate...not everyone is willing to donate directly. Different strokes.

I'd also recommend everyone check out charitynavigator.org to find more info on the organizations you donate to. Always research where your money goes.

  45. Great post! Just a clarification....the USPHSTF, the agency that makes recommendations that doctors communicate to their patients does not recommend monthly self breast exams: "The USPSTF recommends against teaching breast self-examination (BSE)."
