Makeup Monday: Cheap Thrills and Quick Changes

When it comes to drugstore brands, I'm a bit of a Revlon fan girl. I'm particularly fond of their lipsticks, which come in a bajillion (give or take a few) shades and finishes. I'm a lipstick girl for more than one reason, but mostly, I love that it can change your look in just one step! Since becoming a CVS Beauty Board member, I've probably been spending a little too much time in their makeup aisle. I only recommend products I actually use and stand by, so naturally I have to try everything out. I've found a slew of new favorites (and a couple of misses, which I promptly returned) in the Revlon lipstick section alone, which I have showcased in the pictures above.

Isn't it crazy how just one swipe of lipstick can completely change your look? I'm wearing the same face and eye makeup in each (though the lighting is different in a few). What's your favorite lipstick of the moment?

  2. if you love revlon's lipsticks you should definitely check out NYX round lipsticks.
    the formula is super super creamny and they come in literally 21972817428364782 colors.
    and they're like $4. you really can't get much better than that .

  4. I totally Love this! I had just bought the Berry Haute!!! Love the orange too...So pretty...It gets a little nutso when you go to CVS..cuz you think..oh these are sooo cheap..and then you spend waaay more than you thought!! haha are you wearing any lip liner?

    I am also loving Covergirl's new lipsticks!!! They stay on 4eva!!! So pretty..

  5. I absolutely love Revlon lipsticks! My favourite ones for autumn are wine not (matte) and black cherry (super lustrous). Love these colours! I have story pink and wild orchid, I really love that Sultry Sable one!

  7. I love lipstick too! My all time favorite is probably MAC Angel, however, I'm really liking UD new lipstick pencils in Crush and Punch Drunk.

  8. I just bought 2 Revlon lipsticks at CVS a few days ago when they had a great deal with the Extra Bucks. I wish I had bought way more. I love the lipstick. It was really hard to choose.

  10. love all these shades on you! i recently just got into lipsticks (partly your influence) and want to get into more bold, adventurous shades.

    i recently bought sula lipstick in "awake till sunrise" (very similar to the red orange shade you're wearing in the first photo) and absolutely love it! $8 at Ulta and it's reeeeally opaque and actually lasts a long time. only thing that sucks is that they don't have a lot of shades. ;[

  17. ooh i love your bold and vampy looks, but they all look great! i've recently been trying to get used to lipstain because i'm not a big fan about how sticky lipstick is and how easily it comes off. but most days i still usually go without makeup...

  26. Yes, I'm crazy about lipstick and Revlon in particular! I recently bought the Fire & Ice shade, and I love it. It's similar to Mac's Lady Danger, though not quite as orangey looking (I don't think) or as matte. The Sultry Sable looks gorgeous on you...I've been looking for a darker berry color, so now I want to try that shade!

  27. I have the same question as someone else asked: do you use lip liner in these looks?

    if so, do you have tons of them to match all these different lipstick shades or do you just use one that blends into your natural lip color and layer the lipstick on top?

  29. I actually didn't use lip liner in any of these pics - just lipstick. They were new tubes, so I didn't even have to use a brush. I just used the tip to refine the edges.

    As for liners - I have liner that matches my lips, then also a rosier color for every day, red for red lipstick, dark red for the vampier colors and fuchsia. So I guess I have five...though I usually have multiples!

  33. I always found lipsticks to be really drying so I usually stay with tinted glosses. But those shades look really nice on you. Especially the Sultry Sable.

  43. Siren is an AMAZING color! I love how it pops! & you look adorably fabulous as always ;D My all time favorite, perfect lipstick color is um um uh by Benefit which is this perfect mauvey brown. It's been discontinues for quite sometime but I still have half a tube that I save for special occasions or when I need a pick me up.

  46. I don't have a favorite brand, but I love peachy and coral lipsticks. Or anything tending towards nude or rose, pretty much! It's very subtly beautiful.

  54. I love dramatic eye, so I'd go for the black gel eyeliner and back it up with the neutral beautiful blends eyeshadow quad. I also love lipbalm and the smell of roses, so I'd be so excited to try the Rose Petal Hydrating Balm. Thanks for the giveaway!

  70. Mademoiselle: I'm so partial to my red lipsticks that I haven't even tried Revlon. I bet they have a great one, but my go to is MAC Russian Red, which is matte. But if CVS has a full money refund - I might have to go shopping there tomorrow as I love the hot pink and the Vampy!!   91. My very favoritest lipstick brand is Lime Crime. But for drugstore lipstick, you can't beat Revlon! They go on nice and smooth.
