I took these pictures right before I headed off to Arrojo Studio for cut and color. I let my hair air dry for maximum "this is what you're working with" effect - what a hot mess. It was maybe three or four different colors - what was going on? I stopped coloring my hair a long time ago and never corrected the rest. Look how disgruntled I look in that first photo. Don't let that happen to you.
I'll show you the after pictures, tomorrow. I'm super happy with it! It's a subtle change, which is exactly what I asked for.
In the meantime, I wanted to check in with all of you and see how you fared through the weather. We got lucky in our neighborhood - just a few trees down and temporary outages. I know a lot of people weren't quite as lucky in other states...hope you all are safe and dry.

i can never get enough of scallop detailing. love this look.
ReplyDeletesometimes, i am envious of all the betty draper blondes and the joan halloway reds of the world, but have yet to take the color plunge. i probably won't, until i begin to gray....

I love this! Those are exactly the kind of shorts I wanted for this summer!! Apparently the scalloped hem idea didn't really catch on here in the UK... :( Sad times.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favourite outfits I think I've seen you in. Which is why I'm commenting, for the first time since I stumbled across your blog a couple of months ago. Apologies for being a silent reader!

ReplyDeleteWow. You really have a thing for leopard lately. :) ~I love how you styled here with the jacket and boots though. Really cool.
ReplyDeleteLove those boots and you look stunning! I can't wait for the after pictures! xx Joice
ReplyDeleteGreat detailing on the Seychelles-- fashionable and looks functional. Aren't they comfortable? I like that brand.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what could be a cute, quick change to the ensemble would be the unbuttoning of the top button and the last while tying the tails at the front into a knot. To make it more apropos for night, exchanging the tote for a cute clutch, the boots for some flashy heels, the Unlimited lips to Lady Danger, and perhaps the addition of feathery lashes. :)

Beautiful outfit :-)
ReplyDeleteUltimately I love your blog because of you... you're such a great writer and so creative!
ReplyDeleteBut I used to be much more inspired by your outfits before you got loads of free stuff! Now don't get me wrong, I think it is awesome that you get free stuff... that's pretty much a dream come true lol. I just miss the old days where you used more thrifted items. Not just because they were thrifted but because I think it forced you to be more creative. I feel like some of the magic is lost. But styles do change... and I'm still a HUGE fan. I will be no matter what you wear lol. Cheers!
Hi... leopard is so fabulous. I found some great leopard pieces myself that you can see on www.artalarue.com
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys are okay! We had the same thing here. I absolutely love this look..I need a little leopard in my wardrobe. :) -Lo
ReplyDeleteGlad that you're ok!

ReplyDeleteStefanie-Anne:
ReplyDeleteI have pretty strong feelings about this argument. I understand the frustration, and I'm grateful that you not only feel comfortable to speak your mind with me, but that you also opened up the conversation respectfully. Here are my thoughts on all of it:
Just like money can't buy you style, neither can free stuff. It does make it easier to put together an outfit when you have more to choose from, but it doesn't dictate your personal style. I'm extremely fortunate to receive gifts from companies and I know that most people don't have this luxury. It's a perk that comes with the territory, and I think a lot of people would have a hard time turning it down. I am one of those people, obviously. I can only be honest about that - I'm a human!
The items I'm wearing in this post, save for the purse and blouse, have been in my closet for ages and in heavy rotation. Thought I got it with a gift card, I picked out the blouse while shopping with friends - and it was 70% off or something crazy like that. I still am a bargain hunter and I keep things in my closet that are likely to be worn time and again. I think I've worn these shorts at least a million times (hyperbole!) - I even bought a second pair because I ruined the first.
I sincerely do understand this gripe that people have with style bloggers. But I get a little defensive when my personal style comes into question. Companies might let me pick something out, gratis, but no one ever dresses me. I have very strict rules for what I receive and I will only ever wear things that I actually love. I promise you that.
That being said, thrifting in New York SUCKS. I had the pleasure of thrifting in Florida and got some awesome things, and I can't wait to do the same in LA. I plan on making a regular feature of head to toe affordable fashion, minus the c/o pieces. I actually have my first one scheduled for next week - every pic I post is several days or even a couple of weeks old. I'm so behind!
annnnd I am just as verbose as usual. I hope this doesn't offend you (or anyone else) at all - I just wanted to explain my feelings on the matter. Thank you for continuing to read, and I hope I can bring you something to your liking very soon!
holy crap, that was long.
ReplyDeleteRina: I wear Seychelles more than anything. Their shoes are so comfortable and still really cute!!
ReplyDeleteDear Keiko, you are oh so fabulous and this outfit is BEYOND amazing. I absolutely love how you styled it--it's perfection. and for some reason when you said "fared" i read it first as "farted" and I'm still giggling over that. teehee. Hope to cross paths next week in NYC and meet you in person!!
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to buy a top or anything animal print, cause I have none in my closet.
ReplyDeletei love all your outfits!!
ReplyDeletelove your outfit!!!

Great outfit! Adore the shorts!
ReplyDeleteYou got the red out of your hair - nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of the arrojo salon?
Nick's a cutter I'd be wary!!
Other than that the new color looks nice, but the makeup could use a little change to accentuate the new color!
Your hair still looks good. I'm jelly.
