apples to apples

Outfit Details:
polka dot blouse - thrifted
ADAM chiffon and lace maxi skirt - c/o ADAM
rings - Forever 21 and street vendor
cuff - LOFT
lipstick - MAC Russian Red

I enjoyed this skirt very much while it was in my possession, but as soon as my mom tried it on, I knew it was really hers. Lady knows how to rock a maxi skirt. I was excited to finally be able to give something to her, because you might have noticed that almost all of my vintage accessories have been gifts from my mom. We may not look anything alike but I suppose the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.

(We also have the same temper!)

  4. my mom and i have similar looks, in terms of coloration, but totally different builds, so we could never swap clothes. that doesn't stop her from giving me vintage accessories, mostly purses....

i have the mac russian red as well, but it looks more glossy on me; i prefer a more matte look.

  11. You're getting so much wear out of that polka dot shirt! I can't get enough of it. Looks new every time you wear it.

Aw, glad you got to give something to your Mom! Keiko, is her store in Florida? I'm visiting there very soon, and I was wondering have you ever posted about where to shop/thrift in Florida? Tips? I don't live in the states so I really have no idea and I'd love to get in on some spots. I'd love the help!

    Again, cute outfit :)

  15. I've been thinking recently on what to do with my polka-dot clothes since I'm kind of not comfortable wearing them anymore. My options are: sewing it into men tuxedos or making new dress out of it. Your post enlightened me and gave me an idea, thanks to you!

  22. I'm so envious that you live near enough to your Mom to swap clothes! :-) I'm like a physical clone of my mine so it's awesome when she mails me things cause they always fit and look great, but she lives 400 miles away. :-(

Also I adore your lipstick, I have that same color and actually wore it today, haha.

PS. I love your blog and it has inspired me to create my own. :-) Thank you!

  30. #1: That shirt absolutely rocks my socks. Red polka dots need to be in my life, stat.

#2: Apples to apples is pretty much the greatest game ever. I have no idea if you are referencing it here or not, but I felt it needed to be said.

#3: I love that your mom has style. My mom has zero but she is trying to get out of the mom jean rut she fell into ohhh 20 years ago. I have been dragging her kicking and screaming out of 1980 lol
