Despite the fact that I'm looking down or closing them in 99% of my photos (I'm nothing if not consistent - see also: messy updo), I actually have eyes. I also had severe headaches on a daily basis and major glasses envy - so much so, I sometimes donned a pair of fakes. I didn't put two and two together until Bobby pointed out how horrible my vision was; I couldn't read something that was three feet away from me and in big, bold letters. I kept saying, "But I have 20/20 vision!" Really though, the last time I had an eye exam, I was probably wearing a New Kids On The Block...everything (I even had a sleeping bag). Of course, as soon as I had an exam and was told that I did need glasses and yes, this is why you have a headache every single day, I pretty much jumped for joy. New glasses and my headaches will calm the heck down? Party time.
I don't plan on ever wearing contact lenses, so I want to be able to change it up between a few different pairs. They're my new favorite accessory. I just picked up a pair of vintage frames that are in need of prescription lenses (Tessa found them for me!) and I've already started looking for the next pair. So, imagine my surprise and delight when LensCrafters asked me to be one of their ambassadors - double party time! Next week, I'll be going to one of their stores for a consultation and I'm going to hunt for a new pair of frames. If you see a pair on the site that you think I should try on, please let me know!

p.s. They're having their back to school semi-annual lens event from now until September 12th.

love your frames and the polka dot blouse! You're sending a "Happy Friday" message ;-)
ReplyDeletelove your blouse:)

It would be fun to switch up one's glasses - too bad glasses are so darn expensive. =)

I love the frames you picked!
ReplyDeleteAnd what is the lipstick you're wearing? I'm a sucker for red lipstick & am in need of a new color :) (well, not really, I have, like, 10 or so different reds, but hey, what can I say? it's my splurge LOL)
Glasses are like tattoos - it's really hard to stop on just one! ;) Although I still have just one tattoo but have just succumbed to the new pair of frames.
ReplyDeleteNeat about lenscrafters. I need some specs too. I did the "at home try on" from Warber Parker. I was pretty please with their selection.

Aww, you look great in glasses, Keiko. I'm glad you were able to find the remedy to your headaches. It's always so fun switching up pairs of glasses, it's like an additional accessory!

I would seriously think you would like at least one of the glasses that I own: http://tiffsbloggy.com/2011/05/glad-to-be-near-sighted/
ReplyDeleteI also work at an optometry office, so you have any questions, feel free to ask!
I love that you represent lovely eyeglass wearers! I knew I needed glasses (since 4th grade!). My eye sight isn't the worst but I was getting head aches in college and finally decided to find a pair I liked and wear them everyday. My husband loves that I wear glasses. :)
ReplyDeletelove those cat eyes! and yay to no more headaches,,srsly they are the ruiners of a good day :/
ReplyDeleteCheck out Warby Parker! They let you choose a few frames to try on at home so you get to see how they look before you buy them! It's so much fun!
ReplyDeletejustQUACHit
That's awesome, love the frames Xo
ReplyDeleteJust be careful about "add ons" at LC. They like to boost up prices somewhere... even if it is a buy one get 50% sale. I also cannot tell you how many patients I get that come from LC, complaining about the opticians and quality of care and how they can't see as well with their glasses.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin' :)
I Love glasses! I have a pair for close work but I often just wear them the whole time...I wish I could get more pairs but since I dont have to wear them it seems like waste of money :-( Yay for glasses!
ReplyDeletepretttttty sure i am in need of an exam as well..... thanks, job where i sit hunched in front of a laptop.....
ReplyDeleteLove these frames, can't wait to see the vintage ones! I think I have 20/20 too but I know it's gotten worse and I can't even remember the last time I had an exam..grade school?! Oh man, new kids on the block was the right stuff..did you have the barbies?! I wanted them soo bad haha
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely check out Warby Parker! They have a ton of vintage-inspired frames, and they're only $95, including prescription lenses and shipping. They also have free home try-ons, and when you buy a pair they donate a pair to someone in need. :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Warby Parker.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in glasses, and as glass wearer since age 14, I'll be looking forward to some frame inspirations!

Yay! This post makes me giddy b/c it's the reason why I went back to school, and why I study so hard.
ReplyDeleteLens Crafters doesn't carry the LaCoste line, which has some really colorful and super cool frames. From the LC website, these look really awesome:

Score for Keiko! All my life I've wanted glasses. I wore some awesome slightly tinted sunglasses constantly for over maybe 10 years. I've moved onto a pair of real sunglasses and it's weird not wearing them at night, but that's okay. I actually still have 20/20 vision, if not better. But I'm sure one day I'll finally get some real ones :)
ReplyDeleteI totally love it ;-))

Loving the frames! And funny enough I just had my eye exam today, and picked up some new black frames for myself. I was torn between a vintage look like yours and a little more hipster. I opted for hipster but have some old frames of my grams I may have lenses added to. Fab idea!
ReplyDeletekillerrrrr glasses. lovely photos!!!

so jealous! i've been wearing glasses since i was 4, and my vision is so bad at this point that i usually have about 2 or 3 pairs of glasses to choose from that don't look like a pair of fishbowls.
ReplyDeleteyour glasses are gorgeous, and you look lovely in them.

For those of you who recommended Warby Parker - I do love their glasses and wanted to do an at home try on. I actually know which ones I want. But I have to get another eye exam, first! The place where I got mine won't give me my prescription.
ReplyDeleteAnd p.s. I'm still going to LensCrafters - they're being extremely kind and generous with an exam and a pair of glasses!
ReplyDeletep.p.s. I'm wearing MAC Russian Red lipstick.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful glasses!

LOVE those glasses! And thank you for reminding that I desperately need to get my eyes checked.:)

When I was in middle school, I had 3 life goals; get glasses, get braces, and get a cast. I accomplished all 3 in due time, but glasses really were the only positive 1 of the 3 haha.
ReplyDeleteI need to wear glasses too since my car accident last year :(
ReplyDeleteEver since I saw how stylish glasses can actually be with your Raybans, its actually made me feel a lot bettter about having to wear them!
I'd love a pair of cat eye ones - very cute :)
I found both hard and soft contact lenses extremely irritating!
don't ever get rid of those glasses.

I think you will love Warby Parker frames! At a mere price of $95 a pair, you give away a pair to those in need when you buy one. They also have a great vintage selection!
ReplyDeleteLove the glasses. I need to go get my eyes tested too pretty soon so i'll soon be in the market for a new pair or two myself! Will check out lenscrafters!
ReplyDeleteI love your blouse
ReplyDeletemakeup and outfit are perfectly marched

I don't know about their regular eye glasses, but their Tiffany & Co. prescription sunglasses are AMAZING.

well they look great on you!
ReplyDeletealso, i too had a new kids sleeping bag...and the dolls...and buttons...and well, i saw them about a month ago in concert with bsb in toronto....amazing!!
I love frames, but never wear my glasses. I like your eyeglasses and the red polka dot top is lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there a certain reason why you don't want to ever wear contacts? You look great in glasses, and they are fun to switch up, but I would hate not having the option of being able to see well sans glasses being part of my look. Nothing wrong with them, but sometimes it's nice to go "bare" faced in that one regard. I'm curious if there's maybe a non-fashion related reason for your preference.

ReplyDeleteJoanna Blaine: My vision isn't bad enough to require glasses 24/7 - so I try not to rely on them all the time. They're for distance, so I rarely wear them at home. I like being able to take my glasses off whenever I want. I haaaaate the feeling of contacts. They freak me out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation!
ReplyDeleteJust found you over from Marissa's blog - The well appointed catwalk...So loving your glasses!!!
ReplyDeleteI also probably need my eyes re-tested, perhaps an excuse to get new frames?!
