Now that Bobby is only working one job (woohoo!), we have a lot more time together. Lately, we've been hunting for an antique sofa, with no success. I guess I'm used to actually being able to afford the kind of furniture I like, since Florida has an abundance of antiques and less demand for them. Plus, I have that nifty daughter discount at my mom's store, which is where I have gotten most of my antique and vintage furniture in the past. New York, on the other hand - they know what they're worth and they know they can get what they're asking. I have a select handful of shops that I frequent and I often pick up pieces from the Brooklyn Flea, but sofas are harder to come by. If you have any tips on where to look (in or around New York), I would love to hear them!

THE CUTEST outfit! You look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on sofa hunting!

Love the whole outfit especially the skirt!
ReplyDeleteThis is REALLY cute...I love the skirt and hat and the buttoned-to-the neck sheer blouse!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty look, Keiko! Especially adore the bowler hat and the lace up wedges. I usually go treasure hunting at estate sales, but I'm sure reasonably priced ones will be hard to come in NYC.

much love.
So so pretty! I love your wedges. Seychelles are best! I must have like 5 pairs of their shoes. Good luck on your hunt for an antique sofa!

This outfit is pretty much perfect. I'm in love with that skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe Fancy Teacup: I actually haven't gone to any real estate sales since I moved here; I automatically assumed they wouldn't be in my range. I guess I should just check a couple out. In Florida, with all of the senior citizen communities, they're easy to come by.
ReplyDeleteLooking lovely as always! And if I may say so, Bobby is looking super hot too! You guys make such a perfect couple!
ReplyDeleteAs for the sofa, no clue but what about buying something from a close neighboring state? Or maybe you have a follower who is making a move from FL to NY that can bring over something from your Mom's store?

Great outfit, I love your hat! :) Good luck with your sofa search!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! Especially the hair + hat! I have a hard time finding great priced antiques here in California. I need to move back east where they're more abundant!
ReplyDeleteGeek chic babe super cute!!! Love that you're sporting menswear in the most feminine way!! You should try craiglist for the sofa, I'm sure Brooklyns chock full of awesome treasures! Good luck!

ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend found a really great antique sofa on Craigslist in this area. Maybe that would be a good place to start, you never know what you can find there. P.S. I love your belt!

a more economical, and potentially adventurous and fun, option would be to rent a truck (if you do not have a car in the city), and journey into PA. adamstown is a vintage, antique, collectibles mecca, and you could glean through a variety of options, with much more wallet friendly prices. you should make a day trip out of it, and pick up a few things! from nyc, it is maybe a 3 hour drive.
ReplyDeletegood luck! happy hunting!
cute hat and you remind me a bit of my little daughter, who is half asian and half white.
ReplyDeleteI love this post oh-so-much. You look DARLING! Can't wait to see the sofa you pick. Be sure to updated us all on your findings. :)

ReplyDeletelovely photos. you look absolutely darling. i am glad you have more time to spend with your man. unfortunately i am in the opposite situation - my boy just recently started university (he quit his job to go back to school) and a job, so he is always busy - so i can definitely envy you! :)

ReplyDeletesooo true about vintage in new york. but now that i have been in san fran for a bit and have checked out some fleas... i wouldnt buy it here either. its even more expensive here than in brooklyn! at least there are convenient shipping/delivery options in nyc.

You have a great style and know perfectly how to play your assets, how to show the best in you. Plus, you're an incredibly beautiful lady- I do think so, even though I'm a woman ;)

You have the best hats.
ReplyDeleteYou can try ebay.......or upper west side(West76th street) has a Flea market on Sundays in a school yard.
ReplyDeleteI adore this! I'm really loving sheer button ups and hats lately and these are too perfect. I've been filling the house with vintage/antique pieces and I just scored the perfect 60's velvet sofa! I'm spoiled though, we have a huge wharehouse thrift store a few blocks away that's super cheap!
