mess in a dress

I don't think I've ever worn a maxi dress before I got this dress, but after wearing it, I went hunting for another. I found this great floral chiffon dress at Beacon's Closet and wore it the next day. Within the first few hours of wearing it for the very first time, I managed to rip a big hole in the dress by rolling over it in my chair. It was on a seam and easily fixed, but I still had to walk around the city with a gaping hole in my dress, all afternoon. This is why I can't have nice things.

  4. Laura: I am addicted to Beacon's. It's great because people who work for the designers always drop off a ton of stuff at once. This week, there was a slew of Jill Stuart dresses (they said she actually sent them herself). But I like the one near me (Park Slope) better than Williamsburg because it's easier to peruse.

  33. Oh, I'm just like you with my nice things haha. Once I wore my absolutely favourite dress to work. It had these giant pockets. My chair had arm rests. First thing in the morning, I stood up, the arm rest slipped inside my pocket as I stood and RIPPED my dress all the way down to the bottom seam. Oh my word. Thank goodness that dress was lined!

    I love this look! I love how maxi dresses look, but am 5' and am afraid I would not be able to pull it off. You look great though!

    I need some advice. You're such a fashionista so I thought you could help. Have you ever bought cheap shoes? I bought Target brand shoes yesterday for $22 - synthetic patent leather pumps in a neutral shade. Of course I would love the ones from Aldo or Steve Madden which are better quality, but they're a bit more money. I have never bought shoes from Target before and I'm feeling kinda of crappy now, thinking I should return them and just wait till payday for a better quality shoe.

    I am that way with my bags. I save for a good quality bag leather instead of buying cheap ones. Any advice?

  61. haha that is what I tell my husband all the time! I literally slam the door in my dress almost everytime I wear it, driving around with a maxi out the door..and then I wonder why it's all muddy or black! Love the print..I wish I could visit this Beacon's Closet! Love the color of that bag!

    Man, it's great to have nice shoes but Target is awesome. They have cute shoes for great prices! I have Target shoes, Payless, Forever 21 - they're all mixed in with my slightly more expensive shoes and I still love them. My suggestion is to only buy shoes you love. If they're cheap but you don't love them, you wasted your money. If you love them, who cares that they are from Target? Also, hit the sales racks - Nine West, Aldo, etc. have amazing sales!
