You may have noticed that my clothing site has been sad and nearly empty, as of late. I'm still putting most of my time into Postlapsaria - I mean, I have to pay my bills! - but over the past year I have been doing mostly small wholesale orders and custom orders from longstanding customers. That's about to change. I miss maintaining my own site and I'm getting a bit bored of making the same things, over and over. I'm planning on doing an entire overhaul, so it might be a few more weeks before the site is completely back to normal. The past couple of weeks, I've been concentrating on making some new things just for the site and managed to make a couple of things for myself. While watching My So-Called Life in its entirety for the millionth time, I re-fell in love with Rayanne's rusty lace babydoll dress and made one for myself in a couple of different colors of lace. I went ahead and made another in this super soft, sheer cotton that can be layered over different colored slips, depending on my mood. I just love the shapeless babydoll dresses of my youth - no Spanx required for a getup like this. The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland Brooklyn.
I was wondering what was up on your site because there hasn't been anything new in ages! I figured you were probably doing a lot of custom orders since you mention having to sew a lot. Glad to hear you will be adding some more things!
Oh Keiko, only you can get away with wearing this super comfy and cute dress...if I wore it I would seriously look 12! I'm only 5 ft tall with zero cleavage, lol.
Love your dress and your hat. I love that you made your dress especially. I can't sew anything and end up pricking my fingers more than anything. I am so in awe of people who sew and your abilities. IT'S LIKE MAGIC
omfg. Don't even get me started on how fine Jordan Catalano is. I love the 90's, and I love love this dress on you! Great job! Now all you need is a tiny plaid back-pack and the time travel will be complete :)
OMG Rayanne was sooooooo a style icon for me in the 90's. I loved her hair, her laid back style and her quirkiness. I cannot believe that you made that dress! You girls just amaze me with your DIYs. And, like someone else already said, I love the hat too.
Hey Keiko! What a great post! I just came across your blog and I fell in love with it! It's spectacular, so I am following you : ) I am inspired by your blog and am trying to start one myself, please check it out and follow if you like it! http://kaylapitcher.blogspot.com ... See you soon, kisses!
That's really exciting that you'll be updating your Postlapsaria website! I look forward to seeing your new work. Especially since you've been finding inspiration in My So-Called Life.
That dress looks super comfy and pretty :) it's nice to wear flattering clothes, but I think nothing beats a comfy but girly outfit. :) I wish I could make my own clothes too... I think sewing is a great gift :)
