and they're real this time


My glasses came in! It's my first pair of prescription glasses, which I shouldn't be excited about, because it means my vision isn't what it used to be. But I'm actually really excited because 1) I can see clearly now, 2) hopefully this will curb my daily headaches, and 3) I like them.


p.s. They're Ray-Ban and I got them at Margate Opticians, which is right next to my mom's store.

  9. Ah, these are so cute! I miss glasses sometimes-- I just got lasik for a wedding gift from my uncle. It was an offer I couldn't pass up, but I wore glasses since 2nd grade!

  13. These look lovely on you. I have always worn nerdy glasses, and I wanted these so bad. But, when I put them on, I looked (I'll put it nicely) not good at all. I wish I could pull off that style. We would be twins right now if I could!

    Want to hear a secret that's not a secret anymore? When I was in high school and I had to speak in front of the class, read something, etc, I would put on my fake glasses and pretend they were reading glasses or something of the sort. I had them all fooled! I know it sounds terrible, but I love glasses and hope to have some in the future. I suck.

  21. :o! I tried on a pair of cateye glasses a few years ago when and ABSOLUTELY loved them but I didn't need glasses at that time. I'm pretty sure I went to EVERY store that sold glasses last year and couldn't find any cateye glasses that even fit my face :( ANYWAYS, I LOVE YOUR GLASSES!

  28. I just broke my current glasses and I'm blind without them - so it's contacts all the time until I find some new frames. I'm actually excited to go frame shopping, I think there's some really cute ones out there right now. I'm definitely going to check out the Ray-Bans!

  34. I know exactly how you feel! I kept putting getting my glasses cause I didn't want to have to wear one but when I did get them I could see so much clearer. It was good. I still would prefer not to wear glasses but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

    You look good with it anyway. :)

  40. Oh man! Cute!! I wish I could have helped you pick them. I'm an optician in LA. I know I'm a bit far from you but I already have some cute ideas in my head about what would look awesome!

    I guess after awhile of being in the eyewear fashion industry, when you see a face and a person's style... you immediately think of a frame or style that will best suit them.

    In any case, glad you are happy with your newfound sight and look!

  50. I know what you mean about excited but shouldn't be! I got my first pair this week, and they're Ray-Bans too! Unfortunately the cat-eyes looked no good on my rounder face, but I still love my wayfarer-esqe-but-narrower ones. God to have a reason to splurge on Ray-Bans as I never would have been able to justify sunglasses on my budget!

    As an aside : I usually lurk but I wanted the chance to say thank you for your recent post on body image.
    I know style bloggers are allowed to post on whatever content they desire, and most that I follow tend to stray from sharing anything that hits too close to the heart (I can be like this as well); I just wanted to say how wonderful it is how open and honest you are to your readers. You're extremely articulate in your thoughts and it's always comforting that others share similar experiences to your own. Body image and self-worth in women will always be a hot - button issue and thank you for discussing it in a thoughtful, caring way. (The Killing Us Softly series on Youtube really touch on this as well)

  86. paperpocket: I *love* vintage frames and have a pair that I keep in my jewelry box. They're the best, ever - but they're too tiny for me! Most vintage frames are either too small in general or the sides don't reach my ears. I must have a big head, compared to the little ladies of the 50s and 60s.
