The room is littered with her books and notebooks

We're at that strange point in the season when it's warming up just enough to entertain the idea of shorts, but only if you have a thick sweater/cape/blanket to bundle up with. I'm not complaining; I am thrilled with the impending increase in temperatures. In fact, I've been doing a little bit of spring cleaning in my closet, slowly packing away the winter gear and making room for the rest. I don't know why I'm surprised by this at all, but I've come to a realization: I have way too much stuff. You would be shocked if you saw the amount of clothing I donate/took to Beacon's - and yet I still can't fit everything in my closet(s). I also have way too many things I don't need - trinkets, books I've already read and probably won't read again, coloring books (seriously) and old journals - and I'm having a way easier time getting rid of all of them. I'm getting there. I'm going to keep watching Hoarders until I'm scared straight.

  1. Don't get rid of your coloring books!! Coloring is the coolest haha. And very relaxing. This outfit is adorable. I've been searching for the perfect pair of scalloped shorts forever. These pics make me want them ever more!! ahh! Good luck with cleaning out some of that stuff. I think as long as you're not saving year old milk cartons, you're not hoarder status yet haha.

  5. Love the yellow belt. I'm such a sucker for yellow lately.

    I did a huge garbage bag, donate bag and gift it bag of clothes I don't wear often enough. The gift bag is for my friend who is job hunting and has no nice work/office clothes. Hopefully she doesn't mind my hand-me-downs.

  7. Shannon: Hand-me-downs are the best. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up wearing a lot of hand-me-downs, but it's the best because it's new-ish clothes...for free!

  14. The shorts are so peachy and pretty Keiko! The weather here is dull, and the snow calls for loneliness. I miss the summer blossoms. I miss the spring frocks, and barefoot dancing.

    Spring cleaning tends to freak me out too, it's kind of difficult to give things up sometimes...so I just close my eyes, put them in a bag and donate them. I realize I don't miss most of the stuff. It works! :)

  71. Hoarders! HA! Whenever I watch an episode I start to empty out drawers and throw stuff away. Not that you a hoarder, but I recently read a fantastic (and not sensationalistic at all) book about hoarding called "Stuff" by Robert O. Frost (and someone else I can't recall at the moment). It's a fascinating look into the disorder. But get it from the library so you don't feel like you are adding to the clutter! :)

    Lindsay - They're from Wild Pair, but I bought them second hand at Beacon's Closet.

    Natalie: Thank you! It's my room.

    Leigh: I don't know the name of it, but it's a Glidden paint. We mixed it with equal parts of white in the same finish to get it this color. If you look at the swatches, it looks just like this - it just dries a lot darker, so definitely get it mixed lighter!

    Anonymous: I would, but I just know that I will procrastinate. Beacon's is within walking distance, so it's way easier.

    Kitsune-Kun: Hemming scalloped edges is a pain. But you can't do a traditional hem - you have to make the facing. http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4984/the-scalloped-hem

    Oriola: Bobby and I ended up putting out a box of books for the neighbors and passers by to take. They were gone within hours! Everyone took a book or two.

    Krystle: I was wondering if anyone would notice what photo that was! I feel strange having it hanging in my apartment, let alone my room, but Bobby really wanted to hang it there and really, it was such an amazing experience that I'm happy to be reminded of on a daily basis:)

  96. Funny thing really, today I thought I should have a good clear out of my wardrobe, looks like spring is in the air and everyone wants to clean up.

    Books however I won't get rid of, I adore books and love having a huge collection. Plus I tend to read most things over and over.
