We're at that strange point in the season when it's warming up just enough to entertain the idea of shorts, but only if you have a thick sweater/cape/blanket to bundle up with. I'm not complaining; I am thrilled with the impending increase in temperatures. In fact, I've been doing a little bit of spring cleaning in my closet, slowly packing away the winter gear and making room for the rest. I don't know why I'm surprised by this at all, but I've come to a realization: I have way too much stuff. You would be shocked if you saw the amount of clothing I donate/took to Beacon's - and yet I still can't fit everything in my closet(s). I also have way too many things I don't need - trinkets, books I've already read and probably won't read again, coloring books (seriously) and old journals - and I'm having a way easier time getting rid of all of them. I'm getting there. I'm going to keep watching Hoarders until I'm scared straight.

Don't get rid of your coloring books!! Coloring is the coolest haha. And very relaxing. This outfit is adorable. I've been searching for the perfect pair of scalloped shorts forever. These pics make me want them ever more!! ahh! Good luck with cleaning out some of that stuff. I think as long as you're not saving year old milk cartons, you're not hoarder status yet haha.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning. I a love the contrast of your caoe with the wall. Everything is just fabulous!

Those shorts are way too adorable.

LikeSpinningPlates: I saved my two favorites - I'm not a monster. I could never throw away all of my coloring books! Also, I have a sweet pack of crayons that aren't going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteLove the yellow belt. I'm such a sucker for yellow lately.
ReplyDeleteI did a huge garbage bag, donate bag and gift it bag of clothes I don't wear often enough. The gift bag is for my friend who is job hunting and has no nice work/office clothes. Hopefully she doesn't mind my hand-me-downs.
If Hoarders doesn't scare you straight, nothing will! That show is horrifying!!
ReplyDeleteShannon: Hand-me-downs are the best. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up wearing a lot of hand-me-downs, but it's the best because it's new-ish clothes...for free!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove your cape!

I love this so, so much. The neutral colors with a pop of yellow are perfect on you. I would wear this any day!

The cape is gorgeous. It's nice to see depart from the winter wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI love your cape - it's so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're not at hoarders levels yet! Though I do understand - after my o/s trip I wasn't able to unpack anything...because nothing would fit in my wardrobe! Yikes!

i love those shorts, and they go so well with the shoes. but the cape just looks like a one-of-a-kind, like the type your grandma would sew for you! i love it so much! i know what you mean about being a hoarder, i am nervous that one day i will be on that show clinging to my clothes :)

Being the shortest (at 5'10) I got lots of hand me downs too. Free! Maybe it's why I love used stores haha.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks like my old apartment. I had Tiffany blue walls and a white faux fireplace.

Your room makes me miss it :(
The shorts are so peachy and pretty Keiko! The weather here is dull, and the snow calls for loneliness. I miss the summer blossoms. I miss the spring frocks, and barefoot dancing.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you look happy. Truly happy. Your smile lightens a dreary day!
Much love. Have a happy Monday!
hope to hear from you*

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and unique combination! You pull off the colours very well. I am also yearning for spring - hopefully all this warm weather clothing will help bring some warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteDon't think of your excess stuff as a bad thing, think of the yard/craigslist sale possibilities!

Don't take your old clothes to beacons, sell it on eBay. That way I can have a chance to get some. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI love that little cape more every time you wear it! And I have a very similar color of TIffany blue on my walls as well! Gorgeous.

Those shoes? Adorbs. And I don't use that word lightly ... in fact, I've NEVER used it before now. This is a truly momentous occasion! And, of course, I love the cozy cape.
ReplyDeleteI love your shorts! I recently decided I wanted to try making my own scalloped shorts since I don't have much money to shop, so I thrifted some trousers, cut the shape, and then realised I had no idea how to hem something that isn't straight:( now they're just sitting there all stringy.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the color of that wall.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE NEUTRAL TONE OF THIS OUTFIT KEIKO, U LOOK FAB AS ALWAYS...=)

I love the yellow with the print and flutter shorts! Such a delicate yet appealing look! I would have to pair it with gray tights or something of the sort for my climate. Great inspiration!
ReplyDeletebureaucrachic.blogspot.com
Those shoes are fabulous! I'm on the east coast too (Connecticut) and cannot wait for Spring to be here! I am tired of winter clothes and ready to switch everything out for breezy, floaty fabrics and bright colors!

Gorgeous color palette here, and that cape is just plain beautiful. Good luck with the clutter (I say as a fellow potential hoarder! So many knicknacks...)

such a chic outfit - love the cape and esp the coach bag!
ReplyDeletethe walls of your room are so perfect too! love the white and turquoise!
Hoarders! HA! Whenever I watch an episode I start to empty out drawers and throw stuff away. Not that you a hoarder, but I recently read a fantastic (and not sensationalistic at all) book about hoarding called "Stuff" by Robert O. Frost (and someone else I can't recall at the moment). It's a fascinating look into the disorder. But get it from the library so you don't feel like you are adding to the clutter! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cape but why get rid of old journals?? And definitely not the colouring books :O
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of books do you have? Maybe you should sell them online, I'd be totally interested in getting them!

ReplyDeleteKate - Thank you! Yes, it's my room:)
ReplyDeleteLindsay - They're from Wild Pair, but I bought them second hand at Beacon's Closet.
Natalie: Thank you! It's my room.
Leigh: I don't know the name of it, but it's a Glidden paint. We mixed it with equal parts of white in the same finish to get it this color. If you look at the swatches, it looks just like this - it just dries a lot darker, so definitely get it mixed lighter!
Anonymous: I would, but I just know that I will procrastinate. Beacon's is within walking distance, so it's way easier.
Kitsune-Kun: Hemming scalloped edges is a pain. But you can't do a traditional hem - you have to make the facing. http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4984/the-scalloped-hem
Amanda: Yes, it was a gift from Coach:) I'm a lucky gal!
Lin: She doesn't have a website, but her store is in Margate, Florida on 441 just south of atlantic blvd
Cassie: Just checked out your blog...it's really cute!
Oriola: Bobby and I ended up putting out a box of books for the neighbors and passers by to take. They were gone within hours! Everyone took a book or two.
Krystle: I was wondering if anyone would notice what photo that was! I feel strange having it hanging in my apartment, let alone my room, but Bobby really wanted to hang it there and really, it was such an amazing experience that I'm happy to be reminded of on a daily basis:)
Melanie: That sounds interesting! I have seen real life hoarders - not as bad as the show, but still. It really opens your eyes.
p.s. The journals I threw out had nothing in them but quick reminders, random numbers and confirmation codes, etc. Not old diaries - I've only kept online journals since I was fourteen or fifteen:)
ReplyDeletep.p.s. Thank you to everyone for the kind comments!
ReplyDeletecuuuuuuuuuuuuute!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I'm a hoarder too. I'd love to see your closet(s)!

I've been cleaning my room for the past month, and I sympathize with the seeming difficulty of parting with "useless" sentimental things. Maybe Hoarders would be a cure-all for sentimental packrats like me too :)

Funny thing really, today I thought I should have a good clear out of my wardrobe, looks like spring is in the air and everyone wants to clean up.
ReplyDeleteBooks however I won't get rid of, I adore books and love having a huge collection. Plus I tend to read most things over and over.

I am with you on needing to get scared straight by Hoarders. If I just had lots of clothes, it would be one thing, but I also have plenty of shoes, bags, and am a rabid collector of books. I'm trying to be better about what I buy, but I struggle at getting rid of stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love that cape! I'm a bit obsessed with mustard clothes at the moment. You look lovely in this outfit!
