I'm looking for a lipstick similar to the one pictured (MAC Crimzone, discontinued) - medium grape-ish in hue, preferably a less glossy finish. Any recommendations?
None of the finishes are too glossy, 50% more pigment than other lipsticks, doesn't dry out my lips, incredible staying power. I love MAC lipsticks, but I find that my lips stay a little moister with MUF, without being TOO balmy (so they don't run/bleed).
I think Rimmel Moisture Renew in Funtime Fuschia might be perfect. Also Revlon Colorburst in Fuschia is similar. Both lipstick lines are my top drugstore picks. My Heart Blogged
Thank you for the recommendations so far! Chrissy - Ideally, I'm looking for this color but with less of a glossy finish, because I like it opaque. Thank you, though!
Are you sure that's Crimzone? It looks different on you. I know they all do but I didn't think it was that pigmented. I need to find mine. Everything is lost and scattered!
Anonymous: I have Clinique's a different grape, and it's kind of close to what I was looking for - just a little darker. I want something kind of bright, purple/fuchsia hybrid.
Krystle: I'm going to try Up The Amp next time I'm in the store...I haven't tried it in a long time. That might work, but it's a little more of a violet.
Hmmm MAC Show Orchid is a bit more pink, but it might be close. And I know you're not looking gor a gloss, but if you change your mind, L'oreal's Shine Struck Liquid Lipcolor in Arresting might be close too. Hope that helps!
Arleene: Girl About Town is a little more pink. Crimzone was close to Violetta, but a little more sheer. I'm looking for something closer to the purple family but more pigmented. MAC doesn't currently have anything close enough...MUFE has something close but a little too purple...I think I'm being way too picky!
MAC collaborated with an Indian Make Up Artist and came up with this shade called Gulabi Bright fuchsia (Amplified) (Limited Edition) ... I do not know if you can still find it in US but it is pretty popular and and looks similar to the one you are asking for :)
Stila used to have a lipstick that was similar under my namesake: Lara.
But, there are a few options (sorry, I work for ULTA and I run Beauty Destination on our site...just did and article for spring lip trends, Fuchsia is one of them).
Go here:http://www.ulta.com/beauty/article_lip_service.html
The Stila Long Wear Lip Color is pretty good. We feature Intriguing which is sort of similar in color and is more matte than glossy because it is long wear. Exhilarating is also a good fuchsia although, more pinkish. So it may depend on your natural lip pigment.
Outside of Stila, there is tarte's LipSurgence, which has a color named Amused. Also similar. There is a Maybelline lipstick (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2830011#sku2224165) and a L'Oreal lipstick (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2910045#sku2224538) that are similar and cheaper but rated well.
i dont know if it's the same color but I would recommend Estee Lauder Orchid Light! It has a really good pink shade and would match perfectly to your skin tone:)
limecrime centrifuchsia might be what you are looking for. http://www.limecrimemakeup.com/products/CENTRIFUCHSIA-opaque-lipstick.html Greetings from Germany!
I also thought of Magenta Lipliner, and then use a pink or purple lipcolor. It will definately change the color to that bright purpley pink. There's another color from YSL, #136, but I think it's discontinued too. I would see if the counter had it anyway. You could also look at Dior's new lipsticks, they seem to have a few bright colors.
So, I think I'm going to go with MAC Up The Amp because I can always layer it with one of my many bright pink lipsticks. I already have Girl About Town and Show Orchid. I'm also going to look at all of the other recommendations - I've been keeping a list!
I'd have to respectfully disagree with all of the non-MAC recommendations so far, except for NARS Funny Face. It has great pigment so a little goes a long way, which makes the price so worth it. It's a semi-matte that stays on exceptionally well, it's a beautiful fushchia/purple hybrid with a purple sheen (a little berry also.) Very comfortable on the lips as well. You definitely won't have any luck with Dior or Stila, they don't make a color anywhere close :)
It doesn't hurt to look. I think lipstick should be fun. Star Fuschia may be a good match. http://karlasugar.net/2010/10/dior-rouge-dior-lipstick/rouge-dior-3/
I also recommend the Limecrime's Centrifuchia. I have a lipstick of the same brand and it's just amazing! It stays on really well and it's very pigmented. (http://www.limecrimemakeup.com/products/CENTRIFUCHSIA-opaque-lipstick.html)
Revlon Berry Haute may be close. I love these lipsticks (I also own many Mac lippies in comparison); they are completely scent free. I think that you may be thinking of Maybelline or Loreal, super stinky, yuck!
I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with NARS Schiap....when I saw the picture I thought that was what you were wearing...Schiap is one of my favorites :)
Mac Pro Pigment in Magenta madness might work, might be a little brignt but it could also work out if you did a nude liner? I think you should try a coral/orange sometime too! Like Shisedo Perfect Rouge in Day Lily! It would be really pretty on you!
MAC Petals and Peacocks from the Give Me Liberty of London Collection is a dead ringer for this color. Unfortunately, it's limited edition. But you should still be able to find it on eBay. Hope that helps!
What about Vapour's Beauty Siren Lipstick in "Flirt" (410)? Looks to be a close match to me--and it's been all over the pages of Allure and Lucky Magazines.
Check it out at Spirit Beauty Lounge: http://www.spiritbeautylounge.com/vapour-organic-beauty-lux-siren-lipstick.html
Sephora (or at least the one near me) has always hlped me out with these things...i usually just bring the lipstick into the store, show it to them and they haven't failed me yet.
YSL Rouge Volupte number 11 ! The same as yours just a little bit darker. Matte finish, moisturizing and long-lasting ! Plus it smells like peach - I adore it.
I think that OCC's Demure Lip Tar may be the closest in color & finish. But I'm confident that Revlon's Colorburst in Fuchsia, MAC's Petals & Peacocks, Gladiola, Show Orchid and Violetta are all quite similar to what you want. You can also try MAC's Madly Magenta CCB. I hope that this helps. I know how frustrating it is to fall in love with a beauty product that you can no longer get your hands on.
Have you checked out Benefit's "Wanna?" it is VERY close to that color you have on. Not drying at all i just picked it up over the weekend. Check it out :)

Clinique has some really great high impact lip sticks. I used one for my wedding and they photograph well too.
ReplyDeleteI can't recommend a good replica, but I do see that someone is selling a tube of this on Ebay, brand new in the box.
ReplyDeleteIm terrible with lipsticks, that color is lovely! Hopefully you find another!

Hi Keiko!
ReplyDeleteI think MAC Up The Amp would be gorgeous on you!
http://dearwinsome.blogspot.com/
Thank you for the recommendations so far! Chrissy - Ideally, I'm looking for this color but with less of a glossy finish, because I like it opaque. Thank you, though!
ReplyDeleteRevlon Moon Drops in Lilac Creme seems similar. Maybe not as pigmented but a good starting place (a cheep one too)! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's Crimzone? It looks different on you. I know they all do but I didn't think it was that pigmented. I need to find mine. Everything is lost and scattered!
ReplyDeleteMiss you Keiks.
<3Kimbly
you could try http://lipstickqueen.com/product_frame.htm or one from the saint line :) I LOVE their lipstick. I have and love their discovery kit.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's your crimzone! I'm positive!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I don't like about Revlon lipsticks is the smell. I get dizzy! I wish they would change it.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: I have Clinique's a different grape, and it's kind of close to what I was looking for - just a little darker. I want something kind of bright, purple/fuchsia hybrid.

ReplyDeleteSephora Mr Lover is about that shade...I have it on my best friend here:
ReplyDeleteLeona Lewis Inspired Makeup
Maybe try Urban Decay Lipstick in Jilted or Trainwreck. They might be close.
ReplyDeleteHmmm MAC Show Orchid is a bit more pink, but it might be close. And I know you're not looking gor a gloss, but if you change your mind, L'oreal's Shine Struck Liquid Lipcolor in Arresting might be close too. Hope that helps!

MAC spitfire, maybe? (Its out now with the Wonder Woman collection)
ReplyDeleteYou might want to try Neutrogena's MoistureShine gloss in Nutri Berry or Bobbi Brown lip gloss in aubergine.
ReplyDeleteNARS Schiap is great. If you want to tone it down, I add some nude coating on top. Best of luck! Whatever you find will look great on you.
ReplyDeleteHow about MAC's Girl About Town? It looks like the one you're wearing but not sure with lighting and all. It just might be close enough
ReplyDeleteArleene: Girl About Town is a little more pink. Crimzone was close to Violetta, but a little more sheer. I'm looking for something closer to the purple family but more pigmented. MAC doesn't currently have anything close enough...MUFE has something close but a little too purple...I think I'm being way too picky!
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm taking notes on all of the suggestions and I will let you know what I end up with!
ReplyDeleteOCC lip tar in hoochie!

when i first saw the pics, i thought you were wearing my favorite lipstick shade up the amp! the color is awesome. it's more on the lilac side.
ReplyDeleteWet N' Wild in 511B . the same thing & it feels so moisturizing in the summer time . plus it's cheap ! bonus <3
ReplyDeleteI agree with jenn the color reminds me of Perfect Rouge Lipstick RS320 Fushia

i dont know if it's the same color but I would recommend Estee Lauder Orchid Light!
ReplyDeleteIt has a really good pink shade and would match perfectly to your skin tone:)
It's not 100%, but Up the Amp would certainly look amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really fuschia to me, so I am going to suggest Nars Funny Face. It may lean more to the pink than you are looking for.
ReplyDeleteI like this color of lipgloss and on you is perfect!!!

I vote for "Up the Amp" by M.A.C. as well. It's one of my favorite lipsticks and very similar to Crimzone, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteLipstick isn't important! You have a beautiful shape of mouth so each lipstick is good for you :D

if you mix up the amp with show orchid youd get exactly that colour, including a bit of a blue tint.

Up the Amp - MAC
ReplyDeleteMaybe "girl about town" by MAC?
ReplyDeleteRevlon "Berry Haute"
ReplyDeletetotally agree with the limecrime recommendation!
ReplyDeleteTo repeat the suggestion a few have already made: MAC's Up The Amp.
ReplyDeleteI also thought of Magenta Lipliner, and then use a pink or purple lipcolor. It will definately change the color to that bright purpley pink. There's another color from YSL, #136, but I think it's discontinued too. I would see if the counter had it anyway. You could also look at Dior's new lipsticks, they seem to have a few bright colors.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mac Violetta? even though it is a bright purple it may work...
ReplyDeleteCovergirl's new Lip Perfection line has a color called Divine which seems close
Good Luck! :)
