On this particular evening, I had the pleasure of bringing Bobby's boss's daughter, Grace, to her first show at Lincoln Center. While we were waiting in line for Mackage, I broke my heel! I rocked back on my heels and crack! there goes the left heel. Luckily, it didn't come completely off and I was able to drag it along the carpet like a dead weight. Oddly enough, it was the one day I didn't have my flats with me - and though Kmart's concierge (they had a special service during fashion week for emergencies such as this!) kindly offered to save me with a pair of flats, I toughed it out and hobbled my way into the show. We were fortunate to have really great seats, so the struggle was limited to the entrance and exit - and I made it through the night without falling. What can you do, except drag your little broken heel behind you with your head held high?

p.s. I dropped off my laundry!

Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sequin blouse!

XOXO
oh geez, what a terrible time to break a heel! You look beautiful though!
ReplyDeleteU really look adorable, love the puffy skirt...so cute Keiko...=D
ReplyDeleteYour hair and make up look extra pretty today!!! I hope you know how beautiful you are, your pictures are always a HUGE inspiration to me and my (very) amateur blog!
ReplyDeleteLidi @ Eclectic Flair
Love the outfit and WAY TO GO WITH THE HEEL!
ReplyDeleteOh you might not have liked your outfit but I love the shirt & your puffy skirt!!! It's beautiful!! Sorry to hear about your heel!! =)
ReplyDeleteMelanie's Randomness

ReplyDeleteI'm a finalist to be TheLevisGirl but I need all the votes I can get. Help me spread the word http://on.fb.me/LevisGaby

I've loved the look of leather skirts, but am very against buying anything leather or fur... But that is the nicest faux leather skirt /ever/! I must find one for myself! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the lady-like cut of the skirt juxtaposed with the leather. So fab.
ReplyDeleteI love the full skirt, and will be shopping for some for spring and summer (and I have a petticoat on the list for added volume- great touch!)
ReplyDeleteYou're a trooper! As terrible as it sounds, I'd have gone barefoot over a broken heel.
ReplyDeletehow brave! i'd probably go out and buy a new pair of heels pronto if mine broke randomly throughout the day ):

That story about your heel is hilarious! I would've fallen down right on the red carpet for sure.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could leave the house looking this good when I didn't do MY laundry! ;)
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I would've totally bailed out and taken the flats!
ReplyDeleteThat's the way I am with the laundry, too. I let it get into a huge pile before I run and do the laundry. Not good. It encourages shopping, you see.
Books and Looks
How is this your least favorite outfit? I'm dying for that skirt. Is it a recent H&M purchase? I think I know where I"m going tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteI drag my feet doing the laundry too, you would think something easy, shouldn't be so difficult, right? :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is so pretty on you, and I'm glad you had a good time at the show despite the heel mishap!

much love.
I don't what is worse for me doing the laundry, folding it, or putting it away. I really like this outfit. The leather skirt is really pretty, and I was almost surprised that it is H&M.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
I love how vintage it looked :D :D
ReplyDeletela petit poucet
oh man i love that hot pink purse! va va vooom!
ReplyDeletei've never had that happen to me about breaking a heel! oh man! (maybe though it's cause i rarely wear heels!) still that sounds brutal! at NYFW no less!

LOVE that bag. and a sequined shirt? heck yes!
ReplyDeletefashion shows are killer. and nothing feels more accomplished than dropping the laundry off.
hattitude: I'm really hard on my shoes. My ankles turn in, so the pressure is displaced and sometimes they can't handle that:( Also, I have a tendency to do stupid things like rock back on my heels and put all of my weight on them!
ReplyDeleteGabrielle, I voted for you! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLauren: I just bought it last week, so it should still be in most stores!
ReplyDeleteMelanie: I just bought it! Check H&M and if you can't find it, I'll hunt one down for you!
ReplyDeletemy heart blogged: Ahh putting it away is the worst. They even fold it for me, so all I have to do is put it away. But still, it sits in laundry bags for days. I am the worst!
To everyone: Thank you so much for all of the lovely comments:)
ReplyDeleteI hope they weren't your favorite shoes :( You make the outfit totally work - FAB!!
ReplyDeletei love the top & the skirt & the shoes. i wouldn't have ever thought to pair the top w that skirt, but you did it and it looks amazing! you inspire me daily to try new things in my own style.

that's my absolute worst nightmare. It happened to me once in college while I was walking to school to give a really big presentation. I just hobbled the whole way there & I asked the first girl I saw with long fake nails if she had any nail glue with her & she did & it semi-held my heel on & I was saved.. heh.

beautiful outfit! and what a bad time to break a heel, glad you managed through the night!
ReplyDeleteHaha... thats exactly the kind of thing that would happen to me as well! I never had my heel broken though, but then I've never been to NYFW either :D

Lovely look! You've matched the lipstick and the bag so well :)
ReplyDeleteSuper pretty outfit! Love the skirt and the top too!
ReplyDeleteLove that skirt!! When was it in H&M collection, recently or a while ago?
ReplyDeleteSorry about the heels. I am always sad when a pair of my shoes breaks. Hope you managed without blisters or anything. Can they be repaired or are the done?
Ah I love this outfit, the skirt is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteSorry if this sounds like a complete bitch but the whole reason you get invited to these shows is because you are a "fashion" blogger. Yet you make excuse after excuse as to why you can't blog about the week and the shows. I'm sorry but you shouldn't even be invited if can't be bothered to do your job while going. It's really disappointing to everyone who reads this blog wanting to see what fashion week is like and you can't be bothered to take pictures or write about it. And it's not just fashion week. I have seen you on other blogs invited to events and previews and you don't even mention it at all, yet the only reason you are invited is because you have a blog and you don't blog about it. Whats the point? it makes it seem like you use this blog to get invites yet don't follow through on your end of actually blogging about the event.
ReplyDeleteI almost bought that skirt yesterday (before I saw your post). I decided that not only do I already have two black leather skirts, but it is better suited to someone taller (you). It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteuuuu how pretty :) love this outfit!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you really wear opentoes during winter when it's snowing?
ReplyDeleteOutfit is perfect, as usual!
by the way i just purchased you Dear Liza Brocade dress. I am so excited! I don't know why I haven't bought any of your designs sooner! <3

Keiko- you look stunning! Despite the heel issue, seems like you had fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the look and it's perfect for going to a show! I have a really bad habit of rocking back on my high heels and I need to stop it for this very reason! I've yet to crack one, but I'm sure it will happen and unlike you I don't carry flats (hmm, perhaps I need to remedy this!)
ReplyDeleteI love that you added a touch of color with the bag to your outfit!
ReplyDeleteWould yoy please please follow me!

I don't know why you don't like this outfit? I LOVE it! LOVE your style!

You handled the broken heel quite well! And I really love this outfit!!
ReplyDeleteTracey: While I completely understand your aggravation, let me make something clear: this blog is my hobby, not my career. I do make a small amount of money off of this blog, but certainly not enough to make this into a full time job. This is my outlet. I enjoy keeping up the blog, attending events and meeting other people, and receiving amazing opportunities because of this platform. But what pays my bills is my clothing line - and that takes first priority. Throughout this week, I have still had to complete custom garments, fill wholesale orders and ship everything. I've also taken a few freelance jobs that have left me with little to no time to do daily posts.
ReplyDeleteI do plan on doing a fashion week recap, but I am not a fashion news blogger, I am a personal style/lifestyle blogger. While I may be invited to shows in hopes that they will get coverage, most of my invitations come from designers or PR companies that I have a relationship with - and they understand how this blog operates. And no, I don't always cover events, because I want my content to be unique and there's no sense in saturating the blogosphere with the same exact thing, over and over. If I feel that there is something new and exciting to present to my readers, I will do it. But I don't want my blog to become a slew of press releases.
Futurelint: I have broken more heels by rocking back on them. You'd think I would learn my lesson!
ReplyDeleteSteffy's Pros and Cons: Thank you so much! I hope you like it!
ReplyDeletedevorelebeaumonstre.: that is pretty brilliant. Next time, I will seek someone out with fake nails!
ReplyDeleteAnja: I think they can be repaired. It's worth a shot - I love these shoes!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I often procrastinate on dropping off my laundry as well..it's just so much work to carry it across the street haha! Well, you look super cute for having no clean clothes!

The outfit is gorgeous! I just love that wide skirt and how it goes with those shoes.. perfect! :D
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great personality! I probably would have taken the flats though :3, very cute outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love how you made this leather skirt look prim and girly!
ReplyDeleteLa Petite Marmoset
you're so gorgeous!!! i love your sequin blouse it's so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI don't read your blog to hear about every fashion event you've ever attended. (In fact, I couldn't really care less about fashion week.) I read it to see what you wear, but mostly because I think you are an amazingly beautiful person, inside and out, and I love to read what you have to say that day. Not only are you a talented designer, you are an especially great writer, and that is why I love your blog. Keep up the good work Keiko!
ReplyDeleteI love the way the sequins on your blouse tie in with the chain-handle on your bag.
ReplyDeleteIt's all in the little details, you know?
I need a laundry service, too. Your description of the laundry pile sounded ALL too familiar. :(

I know that you have been told this before but you really are a stunning beauty. I am a new follower and can't get over your beauty. I love your honesty about the heel breaking... Dawn Suitcase Vignettesxo
ReplyDeleteHey! I just started blogging and found you! I love your site, I hope if you get a chance to check my blog out you enjoy some of the info posted!
ReplyDeleteZombies have only one speed - Shamble.
ReplyDeleteShambling in a skirt like that, must have looked awesome :D
Cheers!
Even if you weren't crazy about it, that's a cute ensemble! Sequins + faux leather toes the line of taste, but you pulled it off, as usual.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm biased because I have the same skirt:
