MYNY

I'm super excited about my most recent collaboration, with Coach and their MYNY Poppy campaign. This officially made me realize I'm a New Yorker. I'll always be a Floridian, but I've been living here for more than three years! This feels like home, now more than ever.

I picked the Tyler Moto Jacket because I have been on the hunt for the perfect motorcycle jacket for over a year. Kismet! It's super soft and fits beautifully - and it has a teal lining. I love that I can push the sleeves up, zip it up or wear it open. Naturally, I paired it with an overtly feminine skirt and bows. As much as I want to think I can be Joan Jett, even in a leather jacket I am still a girly girl. But hey, if I can't be Joan, I'm up for playing her love interest in any future videos. Joan, what do you think? Do I have a shot?

Check MYNY to see more photos, interviews and all of the new Poppy products! You can also check it out directly by going to Coach.com, clicking on the "New at Coach" tab and selecting MYNY.

Bear Mountain

I wasn't kidding about wearing the same outfit twice! At least I had the decency to change shoes and add a sash, right? It just seemed like a nice dress to wear on a hot and humid day, since it's lightweight and airy. Bobby, Kim and I took a trip out of the city and up to Cold Spring, which ended up being an epic fail. We wanted to go antiquing and enjoy the quaint little town, but it apparently shuts down on Wednesdays. Cold Spring, how dare you!

We salvaged the rest of the day with a mini exploration of Bear Mountain State Park, where Bobby failed at climbing trees and Kim and I won at eating ice cream. You can see more photos at Bobby's blog and Kimberly's blog. Yeah, Bobby jumped on the bandwagon. Follow his blog, This Fellow.

shoes: I can't even remember, but they're falling apart

Kim's cute little bunner necklace is from an Etsy shop called Anirtak. I just had to explain that Anirtak is Katrina (shop owner's name), backwards. Her response? "Ooh, that's fancy!" She may have streaks of pink and purple, but she's all blonde, people.

Last Light

I'm going to warn you right now, I wore this dress twice in one week and I plan on posting the other one right after this (better pictures, more detail). On this day, I ended up not going anywhere and changed into pajamas halfway through the day. I just got a white background for product shots, and wanted to test it out. It was an obvious fail (and overexposed, but that's not the point), because my apartment has a dismal amount of natural light and even less space for proper lighting. Even my favorite lens (50mm 1.8f) can't handle it very well.

What a bummer.

I plan on getting an SB-600 speedlight, since I don't really have enough room for a lighting setup. One issue is that I don't think I can trigger the flash remotely with my D50 (I *think* that's the case). Does anyone have an experience with the SB-600 that they would like to share?

On a completely unrelated note, how cute is my little pup? Miku likes to be by my side at all times. She even waits outside of the bathroom door for me.

Redolent of Orchids

I had every intention of posting these yesterday, but a handsome little prince named Kitty Boos decided to chew straight through my charger. I do adore my little critters, but sometimes they can be little rascals. Right now they are sleeping like little angels - and thus, we begin the calm before the inevitable storm. I don't know what has gotten into them the past couple of weeks - maybe they're bored. I think they just need their new cat condo to arrive, and soon. They outgrew (and broke) the old one. Meanwhile, Miku is a perfect little princess and they could learn a thing or two from her.

H&M had a whole rack of these dresses on sale ($15), in various colors. They must have had a difficult time selling them, because they were extremely abundant - either that, or they just made way too many. Though a little hesitant in my purchase, wondering if every girl in the world would have this exact dress, I was won over by the pale pink. Plus, I'm a sucker for fringe and loose fitting dresses of versatility. I thought about removing the bottom band and letting the fringe hang loose, but it's bound to get caught on everything, so I'm leaving it be. As for the bag, it couldn't be more ideal. Maybe my dress isn't exactly unique, but the bag certainly is. My mom gives me the most amazing gifts.

Nine Five Four

Our back to back, Sears-portrait-style photo

K for Keiko and Kimbly.

Take two girls raised in The Sunshine State and anything below eighty degrees will give them the shivers. When Kim checked the weather and said it would be in the low seventies, we both opted for tights and I, for a lightweight jacket. WRONG. It was in the high eighties within an hour. Weather widget, you are a trickster.

We spent Saturday the way I prefer to spend most of them: at the Brooklyn Flea, eating delicious local food and browsing vintage bric-a-brac and antiquities. Afterward, the two of us wandered around our neighborhood and peeked into some of the cute little boutiques Park Slope has to offer. I only bought one thing, but Kim picked up several little gems, which she will eventually post on her blog, along with more pictures from the day (and of her outfit).

Outfit Details:
Merrylegs skirt in two-step - Postlapsaria (I don't have white in stock right now, but I'll have a limited run of periwinkle on the site this week)
blue camisole - thrifted
tights - Target
Blimeys - courtesy of Seychelles
Finally Friday Blazer - courtesy of ModCloth
bag (which the cats just freaking ruined) - courtesy of Coach

Visit Kimberly Grace to see what Kim is wearing! I'll make her update it as soon as she gets home from work:) Edit: She updated, yay!

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

p.s. My cats are ruining my life. Not only did they shatter my mirror, but I just came home and found that one of the cats clawed my purse (the one pictured). It's my favorite and I'll never be able to afford to replace it:( About one second after that discovery, Lacy threw up at my sewing station. They are lucky they are so cute.

Well, Hot and Heavy, Pumpkin Pie

These pictures made me realize three things (only half seriously):
* I shouldn't be allowed to show my scarred and bruised up legs without stockings or copious amounts of photoshop.
* I understand why so many people think I'm angry when I'm not smiling. I'm not, I promise!
* I need to do something about my hair. Color and cut.

Nevertheless, I generally felt pretty good yesterday. I know this dress is comprised of traditional autumn colors, but I've never really stuck to a certain palette before, so I stick my tongue out at you, tradition! Anyway, it was a beautiful, breezy day and I remembered to bring my new flats for any ouch-my-feet emergencies. We didn't do anything too exciting, just some errands and grocery shopping, followed by an intense evening of sewing (solo). Kim and I made some delicious brie, pear, arugula, raspberry preserve and balsamic sandwiches on french baguettes - my very favorite! Annnnd that's as exciting as my normal life gets. I would tell you about today, but I wouldn't want to overwhelm anyone with how awesome my friday nights are.

Outfit Details:
pumpkin pie dress - courtesy of Spotted Moth
Calvin Klein heels - Beacon's Closet (Jen has the same ones, if you want to investigate their origin further)
vintage wicker bag - gift from Dawn, my mom's best friend

Makeup Details:
concealer (brand rubbed off)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light, all over face
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Refined, on cheeks
MAC dipdown fluidline, on eyes
Prescriptives mascara in dark brown
MAC espresso eyeshadow, on brows
Tarte lipstick in Aura

Love Love and not at all home alone and working on Friday night (wink!),

Hang Out and Be Cool

I wasn't originally planning on posting these photos on the blog, because they were specifically taken for a Lookbook collaboration and I am being modestly compensated for them. But then I thought, heck, the outfit is still cute! - and that jacket, though not mine to keep, is right up my alley. I also have a crap ton of sewing to do tonight and I just don't have time to import, resize and upload new photos right now. I'll be back with regular outfit posts tomorrow, but for now, here is that dress you have seen a few times - now with new jacket action!

Outfit Details:
Postlapsaria dress - made by me (sorry guys, I decided not to produce this for the site or wholesale...too expensive to make)
Postlapsaria sash - available in custom colors, made to order
fishnet tights - gift from my mom
shoes - Dots
Jacket - Collection B (on loan). I can't wear jackets without pulling on the edges and trying to be cool.

Makeup (prepare yourself):
Smasbox Photofinish primer all over face
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light all over face
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Refined on cheeks
MAC espresso eyeshadow on brows
MAC bare canvas paint all over lids
silver eyeshadow (I don't know the brand) on inner and middle lid
MAC Carbon eyeshadow all over outer lid, crease and bottom lash line, blended outward
MAC blacktrack fluidline
Maybelline lash stiletto mascara (gift from Tessa)
Maybelline forever lipcolor in roseberry (dollar store!)

Keiko Lynn

p.s. Retro Threadz is offering free shipping to my readers, now through the end of the weekend. Just put "Keiko Blogs" in the purchase notes or send a message with the promotion and she will adjust the listing for you!

Lazy Bones, Lazy Lovers and Lovers of Magic.

Cry Wolf sent Bobby and me a couple of their adorable t-shirts, and while we have both worn them several times, I never got around to photographing them until now. I have a tendency to forgo the outfit pictures on my lazy days, but this shirt is just way too cute to go undocumented. It's bunnies. GETTING MARRIED. You know it has to be unbearably cute in order for me to choose it over a panda shirt. But then again, I made Bobby get the panda shirt so I could borrow it. Win/win. You can never have too many pandas in your life.

Don't worry, Snowball. You're still my number one panda. (She tends to get jealous.)

Outfit Details:
Bunny Love t-shirt - courtesy of Cry Wolf
striped cardigan - thrifted
stretch denim shorts - self made
socks - Urban Outfitters

panda ears - Smithsonian Zoo

Love love and bunnies getting marrrrriiiiieed,
Keiko Lynn

p.s. Cry Wolf didn't ask me to promote for them or anything, so don't think this is a calculated sales pitch - but if you're thinking of purchasing one of their many shirts, please do it now! They're currently donating 10% of all sales to relief efforts of the Gulf Coast oil spill.

p.p.s. If you didn't get what Bobby was doing in his second to last picture, he was impersonating the panda. I didn't get it, either.
