Last week, I had breakfast at Tiffany's.
It just doesn't get old. "What did you do last week?" "Oh, not much. I had breakfast at Tiffany's."
How often does one get to say that, save for people with breakfast loving friends named Tiffany? It was quite a surreal experience, to say the least. I'm a little embarrassed to say that up until last week, I was always a little scared to even enter the store for fear of a Pretty Woman shop experience. I'm that way about all high-end stores, let alone fine jewelry stores - I suddenly become super self aware of how unkempt I must look and feel like everyone is watching me to make sure I don't steal anything. Of course, that is [usually] not the case. Still, I never dreamed I would be on the receiving end of an invitation to dine at Tiffany & Co. I half expected the doors to be locked, with a plate of pastries and coffee available for us to enjoy while staring at the window displays. Not so. We were greeted warmly by the incredibly kind staff, who had a beautiful dining table set for us in the middle of the store and joined us for delicious food and casual conversation. Naturally, breakfast is their favorite meal of the day and they know how to do it properly. After stuffing ourselves silly, we roamed the store and even tried a few things on. We might have even tricked ourselves into believing we could afford them.
I'm not even a fine jewelry kind of girl (as if I have a choice on my budget) but just being inside the store made me really giddy and enthusiastic about all things sparkly. There is something so magical about it all. I can see why Holly Golightly was so fond of it. On the way out, we were each given a gift bag containing that little box that makes so many hearts go pitter-patter. Breakfast and bangles? How did we get so lucky?

how does one even go about GETTING an invite to have breakfast at tiffany's!?!?!?! lol!

Am I a total dork for saying that sounds positively magical? Love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI have never been inside Tiffany's either - there is one kind of just down the street from me but I don't want to walk in for fear of falling in love and never wanting to leave.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I get anxious, or you know, have a mean case of the reds - I feel like I should pay a visit to the place to see if it does make me feel better. I guess my reds have never been bad enough for that.
Anyway, that breakfast looks delicious. Sounds like a delightful time.

Wow, that is so cool that you got to have breakfast at Tiffany's.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like an amazing experience.
I work at Sunglass Hut and we sell Tiffany & Co. classes. The most expensive one is $260! For a pair of glasses that's a lot (Except we also sell Bvlgari too...and those run between $280 - $410) but they come in the pretty blue box and case as well. So beautiful! I would love to go there someday!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! I cant even believe how awesome this is!

Nice entry. So true. I just avoid those types of stores for the same reason. Naturally I could buy everything in there but I am uncomfortable anyway. Okay, so not all of that statement was true. Ha!

I have that exact same feeling! I've never stepped foot in Tiffany's for fear that I will get the death stare from the employees. One day... :)

oh my gawd. I am so envious! I mean, I love breakfast & I have a friend named tiffany, but breakfast at my friend named tiffany's is just not the same. and I completely get your pretty woman high end store phobia because I am the same way :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience !
ReplyDeleteWOW!
It's odd but it's good to know that I am not he only one who feels like that when I walk into this type of store...

Wow that sounds amazing! And I also have the same fear of walking into high end stores! I always end up wondering if they'll look at me and realize that I'm not wearing high quality fabrics or shoes from target and kick me out when they realize I can't afford anything in there.
ReplyDeleteThis pictures are so beautiful and it look so good ;)
ReplyDeleteuhhhhhh-mazing! what lovely photographs, too :)
ReplyDeletewill we see what you wore?? ;)
That sounds like a fab experience! And from reading the comments above, the sales assistants are really nice, quite often bored so happy to let you try as much stuff as you want!! I'm a gemologist so I spend far too much free time in jewelry shops trying on stuff.
ReplyDeleteWe were in NY for a weekend before our wedding and we ended up getting my wedding band from Tiffany, looks VERY similar to the one on the photo. The band....(not the obscenely large engagement ring!).

What a lovely and fun experience! Yes, I agree not too many people get the chance to say they had breakfast at Tiffany's.
ReplyDeleteThis was the very first post I saw on your blog, and did not have the courage to post a comment until now...Lucky!!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, how does one get an invitation???
