The timing of this outfit couldn't be better. Today is the second anniversary of my little ol' blog, and this cape happens to be featured in my very first outfit post. It was not planned, I swear! Call it kismet; I just now figured out that it was the second anniversary of the blog when I was looking for the post. I wish I had something big planned but I have nothing prepared because I'm no Oprah. Ten thousand virtual hugs for all of my readers!
As you can see in the original post, my mom got this cape for me out of a dumpster. The thrift store near her bar used to throw out bags and bags of clothes; it's really a shame how much of it always went to waste (though most of the homeless in our hometown found a great deal of their clothing there). My mom saw this vintage cape and fetched it for me - and washed it thoroughly, obviously. I really love it; it's like wearing a cozy blanket. Now all I need is one that goes all the way down to my toes. Snuggie?

I adore that cape. Great score, mom! And the Seychelles that you have been wearing lately are to. die. for.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever change big bags -it just takes so much time! Plus, I get really strangely attached to bags and I hate switching. Hand bags, yes, big bags, rarely.
So don't feel bad, I think it's normal, especially if someone as fashion forward as yourself is admitting to it : )
Happy blogaversary!
~Sarah
These photos are so beautiful! Fitting for an anniversary, if I do say so myself. Switching big bags is for the birds, I always end up getting tired halfway through the process and forgetting to put something important in the new bag, like my wallet.

Oh I can't be bothered changing bags either - I've had too many disasters in the past where I have managed to forget something vital like my travel card or keys.
ReplyDeleteFab little cape, isn't it crazy that the store sisn't manage to sell it. Glad someone it ended up with someone who appreciated it (love it with the leopard collar peeping out, cute).

Congrats on your anniversary! I agree with you on the purse thing. I have like 20 million purses but I carry the same one everyday. I love that Coach purse. It is a perfect everyday bag.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your second anniversary! Excited for you and hope there are many more to come becasue I love reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
B
Great outfit! I love the cape!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 2 year anniversary! I love your blog, and have followed you from back in the LJ days (when we were in highschool...oh the days!). I had no idea that that thrift store threw clothes out! That's terrible! Scott left his car keys there once, and they said they had no idea what he was talking about (even though I saw them on the counter as he walked out, and told him to run in and get them)...oh well! Great cape!
ReplyDeletestunning pics!

ReplyDeleteYou're not alone I don't change my bag either! If it's perfect I may not change it even for a year! (Actually I just wrote in a post about it :)

Happy Blogiversary! You've accomplished so much in 2 years! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable outfit. I love when pieces have stories behind them and a dumpster find by your mom is an amazing one.
Melissa
Love your cape in both outfits :) Happy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I get into co-ordinating my bags but now it 's cold and rain/sleet/snow can surprise you at any moment I stick to this big flowery vinyl job that can fit books, knitting, pencil case, spare tire,.. ;)
Love the cape, it looks great with the collar pulled out :)
ReplyDelete"dumpster diving mom" haha love it. such a great and darling find! and those glasses are so adorable on you.
ReplyDeletehappy 2nd anniversary! :)

what a cute cape, cannot believe it was getting dumped! and i am the same way about purses- whenever i switch over I end up forgetting something, my keys, chap stick, bus tokens.. i need to get more organized!
ReplyDeleteHappy blog anniversary. I too wear the same big bag everyday.
ReplyDeleteWhen I used to switch handbags, something would always get left out like a lip balm. I now have a lot of lip balms for every part of the house and purses, but I still find it a chore to switch bags.
i love this ouftit keiko! can't believe someone threw this beauty into the dumpster!
ReplyDeletehappy blogiversary!
you're joking, right? the moment i saw that cape on you i thought it was one of the nicest i've seen all season... and you found it in a dumpster?!?!? i love your mom.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit!!!I like this cape, your hair and your make up!!!
ReplyDeletexoxo, Grazia.

ReplyDeletelooking fab, i love the colours and the cape!! http://fashionablenotebook.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteKeiko, just belt a snuggie and walk around your neighborhood with pride, everyone will be envious. Cheetah print snuggies are very in this season. ;0)
ReplyDeleteYour mom always sounds so cool! That cape is absolute perfection, too. Congrats on two years of your blog! It's phenomenal :)
ReplyDeletethat cape is so gorgeous.. I can't believe someone would throw it away! oh & happy birthday to your blog! :)

ReplyDeleteholy crap, I can't believe it's been 2 years already! congratulations, you have accomplished so much in that time :) it feels like yesterday when you just had an LJ and then switched onto blogspot for this venture!
ReplyDeleteas for the bags, I do the exact same thing. I don't change my bag often, unless it's to change the bag due to size. I find it way too tedious even though I love purses D:
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteLovely cape, I love your shorts I have a pair similar except they have a little black heart print on them :)
The cape is from a dumpster? But it's so beautiful! I wouldnt worry too much about handbag co-ordination - I'm exactly the same way with my handbags. Why bother switching every 5 seconds!

THe poncho is beaautiful! I love it!

ReplyDeleteThe best trick I ever heard for quick swap handbag organization is to sew up cases to sort the contents of your purse into. Pop them into a larger case that you can leave open at the top, then you can lift it all out in one go!
Or, if you just want the essentials, you can take out the one bag with them in. I have yet to do this, but I think it sounds like the perfect way to get organized and be able to co~ordinate your handbag all at once! ^ w ^

awesome find on your mother's part! And super fun to look back at your very first post, especially since I haven't been following all that long (a year or so, maybe?)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with bags. I find one, stick to it, and only swap it out when it's beaten up and ready to go. I used to change them around, but it was always too much of a hassle. Plus, I prefer to invest in the one perfect bag rather than several average bags (which is what my bags were when I had too many...average).
Girl, get a Slanket. SOOO much better than a Snuggie!
ReplyDeleteI carry a big messenger bag around during the week when I'm away from home for 10 hours a day, (I add eyeliner to it on Friday mornings for quick work-face to party-face transitions) and then switch my wallet, keys and one lipgloss (only one! gasp!) into a smaller shoulder bag for weekends, when I'm only ever out for an hour or two. It's still annoying, I definitely don't understand the girls who do outfit posts with a handbag to match their outfit every single day! (Where do they get the time?)
ReplyDeleteYes, when I switch bags, I carry them around for weeks unless I'm just switching to a small clutch. It takes too much time to switch bags!! I don't know how people do it!!
ReplyDeletei agree with you about bags. i do the same thing! i'll use the same one for months, then switch. nothing bad about that :)
ReplyDeletehappy two year anniversary!
it's so cool that you have such a fashionable mom.
totally like you in terms of 'not' switching purses.. im just scared that i might miss something out when changing from one to another.
ReplyDeleteanyway, loving the cape!! congrats on the blog anniversary!! :D

The leopard shirt and cape works so well together! I'm not a fan of any sort of animal print, but I really enjoy this.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you I carry the same purse almost 24/7. The only time I really change it is either because I need to clean it out, I get another one, or if necessary I'm downgrading to a smaller purse. I just don't have the time, patience,or energy to go about changing it everyday that just seems like a big hassle to me.
I'm loving your outfit its darling. The shorts and cape are especially cute. Every time I see some of your outfits it makes me wish I could go shopping with you you find the most amazing pieces.
That's so sad that they just throw away clothes when some people don't even have clothes to cover there body's, they really should donate them and put them to good use.
You have such great style! I look to your blog almost everyday!THank you for giving me inspiration! You are truly beautiful!

ReplyDeletenah dude, shoes and purses need not to match anymore! thank god! its the 21st century!
ReplyDeletea purse is not just something to carry your belongings and co ordinate with your outfits! its a tool! it is my BRIEFCASE!
Oh my, this outfit is wonderful! I love the cape! I wish I would find awesome stuff like this in dumpsters...
ReplyDeleteI always just carry around one purse with me because I am lazy. I have this Gladstone bag which basically matches every outfit and I love it to pieces. I will probably wear it until it falls apart and then I'll go look for another bag that I can wear to death.
definitely one of my favorite outfits of yours. :) beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo of you, the close up, is beautiful. Looks like a photoshoot.
