Don't you shiver

Outfit Details: lace jacket - made from leftover scraps of lace from my sister's dress
bustier - h&m, borrowed from Kim
fringe skirt - courtesy of Shop Mamie, last February
sheer stockings - Target
socks - Forever 21
Hawk wedges - courtesy of Seychelles
bag and jacket - courtesy of Coach
vintage beret - from my mom

If I look miserable in these pictures, it's because I'm an idiot and I didn't check the weather before walking out the door. The previous day, it was so nice out and I bundled up a little too much, so I pared down the layers a little. Such a bad idea. It was frrrreeeeezzzing. The socks and jacket saved me, but I needed gloves and a scarf and maybe a snuggie or two. I practically ran everywhere I went. I was running a little late, so I didn't want to go back home and change - but guess what?! I ended up not only being on time but also the first one there. I'm like the Goldilocks of weather and timing - too hot, too cold, early, super late. I can never get it quite right.

Anyway, the time change is already killing me. I'm already fearing the onset of SAD. Even though I prefer working at night and stay up way too late, I do need a little sunlight to keep the doldrums at bay. Hello, I'm from the Sunshine State! I think maybe I'll start planning more lunch outings, just so I can break up my workday and get a teeny bit of daylight in my life. Who's in?

  7. Love it! And it's so flattering on you! I wish I could pull of socks like that, but where I live it's still in the 70s, so that won't be needed...

  14. Is it awful that my first thought was, "whoa, that's a crazy top for Keiko" meaning that you don't usually go for that low cut, tight fitting look. So when I saw that it was borrowed it made much more sense to me.

But, that doesn't mean you can't pull it off! Very Stevie Nicks "Leather and Lace" of you :)

  15. Shannon: I was totally thinking of Stevie when I put this outfit on! Woooo! And yeah, it was a little out of my comfort zone but every now and then I like to get a little crazy and maybe show an elbow or a collarbone;)

I also really like your style. Way to go!
What do you use for your face? Foundation, powder, etc? It looks very flawless. Is it a gift from God? :) Or a gift from make up pros? Either way, you look stunning!!!

  20. This outfit is gorgeous and sexy. Wow. I love the lace! I like how you mentioned how cold it was; I always wonder if fashion bloggers do things like bring things like heels with them to a shoot but don't actually plan on wearing them the whole time (and in this case, whether they wear coats to the shoot but take them off for the few minutes they're taking pictures!)

  21. Oh, I love this lace jacket so much! It's beautiful! Also, your lipstick colour in these pictures is great, perfect for fall!
I agree with you about the time change! I find it so depressing that every winter, when I wake up it's dark outside and by the time I get back home it's dark again! I need more light than that! As if the cold weather wasn't enough...

  27. Is the title of the post a Coldplay reference? If it is, YAY... I love that song :)
And I especially love your lace jacket... You always seem to have such fabulous clothes, I wish I had just a fraction of the amazing wardrobe that you have!

  28. Even though you were freezing, you look GORGEOUS! A bit brooding perhaps, but still gorgeous none the less :)

  29. Keiko, you might have been freezing, but between the weather, look on your face, and that killer outfit you look hauntingly beautiful. I adore the electric mix of black, layers, and textures.

  35. You might want to take a vitamin D supplement. Find a very high quality one for the most absorption. Also, Omega 3s are supposed to combat depression.

  36. You look so pretty in this outfit.
    I love your style.
I know what you mean about the time change.
I wake up and it's dark.
I leave work and it's dark.
I see the sun on the weekends, when I have the time to spend it outdoors.

I'm dreading SAD too, I hate how grey and dark everything becomes in winter. And people turn MEAN.

  44. This outfit is killer. The fringe, the lace, the leather... It really couldn't get any better!
SAD is the worst. I used to get it real bad when I lived in Ohio. I just tried to keep bundled up and try to enjoy myself, regardless of the doom and gloom outside. :D

  45. That lace jacket is adorable! And I definitely understand the winter blues..so far it hasn't been too bad for me, i've been trying to learn how to layer up to keep warm and cute. The idea of going out to lunch will definitely help you get in some sunshine. I'm thankful that at least when i'm heading to work in the morning it's bright outside.
