An Evening With Kenneth Cole

If you follow me on twitter, you probably already know about my amazing Monday night. Bobby and I were invited to attend a lovely dinner hosted by Kenneth Cole, and to check out the new collection. We chatted with Kenneth, his creative director Ingo Wilts, and mingled with both new and familiar faces. I managed to make it through the entire night without a single faux pas! Well, if you don’t count the fact that I dropped my fork into that cute little river running down the middle of the table, set my napkin on fire and got the contents of a cream puff all over my skirt and tights. All in a day’s work, my friends.

This is a picture heavy post, so please keep reading after the jump!

Our invitations were video messages from Kenneth Cole, which were recorded on Sony Bloggies and sent by messenger. It was such a great way to receive an invitation…and the Bloggies have been put to good use.

Always a pleasure to see my friend Christine.

Ingo was kind enough to walk Bobby and I through the whole collection, explaining to us the element sources of inspiration: rainforest, mountains and desert. Though these were all evident, little twists brought them back their city roots: a camouflage print was pixelated for a modern twist, neon yellow updated the safari neutrals, and accessories gave nods to some of their favorite NYC architecture. It wasn’t all talk about the collection, however. Ingo and Bobby went on a tattoo tangent!

We also took a look at their Reaction line, which is a lot more colorful and laid back – also evident in their cute little dedicated room.

Dinner reflected the inspiration behind the collection: salad (rainforest), main entree (desert), dessert (mountains).

Each of our chairs had a funny (often punny) message from Kenneth Cole, taken from his actual tweets.

Bobby sat with the lovely Wendy from Nitro:licious and John Jannuzzi.

We each got to pick a pair of shoes or a bag. Bobby chose shoes; I chose this bag from the men’s collection. I love men’s bags – they’re so roomy!

I really can’t thank everyone enough for such a wonderful night – and that includes all of you, because I certainly wouldn’t have these incredible opportunities without your readership:)
