Yesterday's outfit was a happy accident. I actually planned on wearing a completely different outfit (I'm now saving it for the weekend). I had this newly thrifted and laundered dress, shoes and bag laid out, which I almost never do. I was so proud of myself for planning an outfit in advance. Naturally, because I'm such a mess, everything went awry when I ended up running super late. I couldn't find the right belt; I forgot to lay out that one key piece. I quickly threw this outfit on - most of which was conveniently laying in packages by my door. I showered, got dressed and did my makeup in record time - under fifteen minutes! Let's just go with ten, because it sounds more impressive. While we're at it, let's reward my poor planning skills. Yay, me!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm a lucky gal. My budget is so tight, I have little wiggle room for shopping. I put all of my money toward bills, debt, and more vet bills. I just get resourceful - I alter old clothes and make them new again, borrow from my friends' closets and make stuff from scratch. But on top of all that, I get amazing gifts from friends, family and companies who like my blog. I never forget that this is largely because of my amazing readers; you all have kept my blog going. This week was extra special, because I got an influx of new things and decided to wear them all at once...oops. Let me tell you about a few of my new goodies:
The jeans: I was invited to Tory Burch's boutique to style a look for her newly launched denim line. In return, I received this great pair of jeans! Please ignore my very temporary hem; I promise to give it a proper one. I was hesitant and only hemmed it a teeny tiny bit, but it needs more. These are the first pair of jeans I have ever gotten that needed to be hemmed. I usually have the opposite problem! I wear a 34" inseam - these are a 35. I applaud them for making jeans with a longer inseam, and for making these roomy enough for the behind. I hate when jeans flatten my bum.

The necklace: Lori Goldstein sent me this great necklace and I liked that it almost looked like a part of my shirt. Into the outfit it went! I'm trying to accessorize more. This is a tiny step, but today I went all out! I found my jewelry box - tucked in the back of a high shelf, which should tell you something - and decided I need to wear my jewelry more often.
The shoes: Oh, these shoes. Solestruck, one of my previous sponsors, sent me these amazing new shoes from Senso. I'm in love. I walked a little like Bambi at first, but I am going to wear these to death. They're actually pretty comfortable, but I'm still going to carry my flats in my bag for emergencies;)
Outfit Details:
sheer jacket thingy: Beacon's? Thrifted? I can't remember. I rolled and stitched the sleeves
vintage sequin blouse: Beacon's Closet
Coach Cambridge bag (still kitty scratched, but I love it anyway): courtesy of Coach

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

You are darling. I can't believe how perfectly the necklace goes with the shirt. It's so beautiful! Those shoes are so major, love them!

Well that's ironic! You say you're a mess, I say this is one of my favorite outfits I've seen you wear! (I guess it's closer to something I COULD wear since I'm not one to wear shorter skirts, so...) At any rate, I LOVE this look!
ReplyDeleteThis look is out of the norm for what you ususally wera bu ohhhhh... I am so in love! You look AMAZING!!! And those shoes...dont even get me started! As for all the free loot... You deserve it! Good things happen to good people!

Keiko, you couldn't look like a mess if you tried. Even if you got ready in 15 minutes, you managed to look like a million bucks. The necklace/shirt combo is a dream, you look like you have everything all figured out. Hey, just fake it til you make it. Can't wait to see the outfit you had originally picked out for today.
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are even delicate and feminine in jeans and a t-shirt :)
ReplyDeleteThose jeans look like they were made for you!!

Stunning as always!
ReplyDeleteAren't happy accidents the best kind? And I know the feeling-- I'm so lame, but I totally had an outfit planned a few days ago, then realizing that I couldn't wear it. So I'm saving it, just like you! I also tuck away flats in my bag when I'm wearing particularly tricky heels just in case, also. :D
ReplyDeleteThe makeup and shoes look brilliant on you, Keiko! and it's all the more impressive, given the time crunch!
Toast with Charmalade
I really love this outfit! It looks very put-together.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not a big fan of studs, but somehow I think they work really well on these shoes!
This outfit is fantastic. I wish I looked that cute when I feel like a mess.
ReplyDeleteLove everything you put on!
ReplyDeleteKeiko,
ReplyDeleteYou are my role model and fashion icon. I honestly think you are one of fashion's greats.
I really just thought you should know.
Thanks for being an inspiration.
I love this outfit, Keiko! It's refreshing to see you dress down a little. I love your cute dresses and skirts, but jeans look great when you wear them, too. Goodness, everything you wear looks perfect! I love it!
ReplyDeletethose booties rock!! and i love that top too keiko!! :)
ReplyDeleteGood lord, 34 inseam. You and your long ass legs. I wish I were just a wee bit taller. Being 5'2" sometimes has it's downfalls. But the upside is that I can wear 6" heels and still be shorter than my boyfriend. Bonus? I guess so. How often do I wear 6" heels? Almost never. :(
ReplyDeletethat necklace and shirt combo was pure genius! It sucks when you think you've got everything planned and realize last min you forgot something, I'm glad it worked out
ReplyDeletequite a happy accident, indeed! i always want to wear all of my new stuff RIGHTAWAY too ;)
ReplyDeletethat is beautiful.
