The combination of sheer black, draped fabric and lots of lace makes me think of one of my mom's favorite female vocalists, Stevie Nicks. Though my outfit is a lot less dramatic than her legendary getups, I had Fleetwood Mac stuck in my head all day. It's not all that uncommon for me - I'm actually quite a fan of their music. For some reason, I get teased a lot for that, but I couldn't care less.
Since I made this dress up as I went along, I'm now wondering if it was a subconscious influence from my playlist. Sometimes that happens! Either way, I'm very happy with the outcome. I've actually worn this dress twice since I made it, in different ways. I just forgot to take a picture of the first one. I'm sure it will be in heavy rotation - I love how comfortable it is. Comfort, believe it or not, is really important to me. It's the same reason I carry emergency flats in my bag!

I LOVE Fleetwood Mac, and I think Stevie Nicks is the coolest. Her music is haunting and therapeutic, all at the same time. I love this little style homage to her :)

Gorgeous dress!!!
ReplyDeletelove the dress and your hair! its so long now!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! I really should start doing more with what I wear during the summer, but when it is in the high 90s-100 I really just want to lay around in a tank top and shorts. It really wrecks my creativity fashion wise. My mom was also a Fleetwood Mac fan so I grew up listening to them. I also occasionally find myself listening to them now, I can still remember the lyrics even though I heard it years ago.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely make it for Postlapsaria! I want one! Haha.
