Dreams unwind; love's a state of mind.










The combination of sheer black, draped fabric and lots of lace makes me think of one of my mom's favorite female vocalists, Stevie Nicks. Though my outfit is a lot less dramatic than her legendary getups, I had Fleetwood Mac stuck in my head all day. It's not all that uncommon for me - I'm actually quite a fan of their music. For some reason, I get teased a lot for that, but I couldn't care less.

Since I made this dress up as I went along, I'm now wondering if it was a subconscious influence from my playlist. Sometimes that happens! Either way, I'm very happy with the outcome. I've actually worn this dress twice since I made it, in different ways. I just forgot to take a picture of the first one. I'm sure it will be in heavy rotation - I love how comfortable it is. Comfort, believe it or not, is really important to me. It's the same reason I carry emergency flats in my bag!

  6. i can't say no to lace dresses. if you made a limited run for postlapsaria, i'd probably be tempted to buy one for every day of the week. hahaha (sad, but true!)

  7. I LOVE Fleetwood Mac, and I think Stevie Nicks is the coolest. Her music is haunting and therapeutic, all at the same time. I love this little style homage to her :)

  14. I love the dress! I really should start doing more with what I wear during the summer, but when it is in the high 90s-100 I really just want to lay around in a tank top and shorts. It really wrecks my creativity fashion wise. My mom was also a Fleetwood Mac fan so I grew up listening to them. I also occasionally find myself listening to them now, I can still remember the lyrics even though I heard it years ago.
