First things first: can anyone tell me why my camera (nikon d50) is doing that (the black bar in the bottom photo)? There is tremendous light fallout. When I have the camera horizontal, it's on the bottom. When I have it vertical, it moves with the camera (so it usually makes the right side dark). It does it with both of my lenses, so it has to be the camera. It doesn't do it all the time but sometimes it ruins the whole photograph. It has been happening more and more often. I can't figure it out!
/tangent.
Do you guys like my bruises and Hello Kitty bandaids? I like to think my bruised up legs make me look super tough, but really I'm just clumsy. I think everyone else knows the truth, as well. Either way, the cute bow really balances the toughness of my battle scars. My good friend Samara (who just finished law school...yay!) bought me this adorable bow belt last week, and got herself a matching purple one. We decided to be awesome/lame and wear them at the same time for breakfast. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me - otherwise I would have gotten pictures of us being twins. Maybe now that she has some downtime (j/k...bar exam time!), we can plan another matching day.
I would say "Wish Samara luck on her bar exam!" - but she really doesn't need it. At breakfast, she was telling me how "over law school" she was. She said, "I don't even care anymore. Give me a B and call it a day."
"Oooh, what a rebel," I said. "I can just hear Aerosmith's 'Living On The Edge' in my head right now."
Outfit Details:
blazer - thrifted
t-shirt - H&M ($4.95! I should have bought more.)
denim shorts - thrifted
heels - Calvin Klein, from Beacon's Closet
bow belt - Anthropologie, gift from Samara
Love love,
Keiko Lynn

That might not be the camera, that might just be something blocking the lens' way (i.e., if you put it on a table, it captures part of the table that way). What I've done is put a book underneath the lens to level the lens so it doesn't do that. I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the camera/lens itself. :) Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so beautiful. Really. :)
My camera does that as well, though mine occasionally also randomly turns pictures pink. I really don't know why!
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes, and what a cute dog you have!!

Hello leggy. Err, I mean, what's new, and how was trip flight back.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in undergrad at Syracuse there was this wegman's that I loved to shop at and I would always use the half carts that have two small baskets. The cart also had an inconveniently placed bar on the bottom that I would constantly knock my shins on causing me to have bruises even if I was wearing jeans. It doesn't help that I'm clumsy too haha I'm constantly falling over or walking into things so I completely understand haha
ReplyDeletethe shoes go so well together with your outfit:)
ReplyDeleteMy D50 does odd things too. It lets in a ridiculous amount of light sometimes. When using that particular camera I can forget about taking pictures around noon. It's awful.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the bar, my first reaction was maybe something is blocking the lens, but I think you would have figured that out by now. ha. It might be something on the mirror plates inside the camera or something on the sensors. Have you dropped it or hit it against anything that might have caused something inside the camera body to shift around?
When's the last time you had it cleaned? Depending on where you got it and if you kept up with the warranty they will clean and repair anything that might be wrong.
and i am jealous of your fire escape. haha... is that a weird thing to be jealous of? We had one off our room in college, my roommate and I, but we weren't actually allowed to go out there.... not that that stopped us. I always wanted to sit out on it at night.
so often i refrain from posting because I just want to say YOU ARE GORGEOUS. you're actually one of the prettiest people I've ever seen, and you never come off as snobby or full of it. you write well, and you dress well too. just love overall.
ReplyDeletelove the skirt and blazer..
ReplyDeleteso cute,

Thanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteSui: It's nothing external blocking it, but that's what I originally thought (so I removed the hood and tried it several times without a tripod, etc.) I might just have to get it checked out. Thank you!
Brandon: The trip back was stressful. Flying with Miku is an event in itself. She is always really good, but people act like they have never seen a dog before. They get her all riled up and it's impossible!
Jenni: Yeah, I think it might be the sensors or something. I also noticed, however, that it is worse when it is bright out...so you are onto something there! I need to find a place that will clean it in shop. Everyone wanted to send it out to Nikon, which is ridiculous. I should've had it done at Colonial Photo while I was in Orlando but I wasn't thinking about it. Maybe B&H will do it...
Often when using flash, if your shutter speed is too fast then the shutter actually gets in the way of the light, causing that kind of darkening at the edge of your shot...but if you're not using flash, then it might just be a problem with the shutter itself. Either way, that would make sense since you say it happens more when the light is brighter.
ReplyDeleteCamera rambling aside, love the outfit!! I'm a huge fan of how you wear blazers, so cute!
you are so cute!! i love how you wore those clogs!! :D
ReplyDeleteWow, you could do no wrong! The bow in this outfit is just perfect. And you're wearing one of my favorite colors. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know whats going on with Nikon cameras but mine does this weird color fading thing when its not suppose to I think I'm going to try out a cannon instead :/
ReplyDeleteYour blazer is just exactly what I'm looking for at the moment. Totally loving your heels too by the way.
ReplyDeleteSam
This is too cute! I love the mix of the really casual denim shorts with the blazer and CK heels. And that bow belt is adorable.
ReplyDeleteAdore your clogs here! You look outstanding. xo

I think your shutter isn't working as quickly as it should for whatever settings you have put for your shots, and that's what's causing it. i really hope it just needs to be cleaned though, because that is probably a quicker fix! but to me, it looks like the shutter isn't opening completely.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! I can't handle heels that high unless there's a platform (I can wear heels with hidden platforms), but it's still cute!
geektastic: A couple of people have told me the same thing...I think you're right. I hope it just needs to be cleaned but my gut is telling me it is the shutter that's the problem. Oh and the shoes have a hidden platform:)
ReplyDeleteLook at you girl so pretty
ReplyDeletenice smile :)

sounds like a sticky shutter. it might go away, or it might get worse... best to take it in and get cleaned up by nikon.
ReplyDeleteI luuuuv the windowpicture, the first one!
ReplyDeletevery cute outfit. love the bow.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not the shutter, it could be a mechanical problem with the internal mirror not retracting quick enough. That could be why it's worse in the sunlight (more shadows from the mirror being in the way).
