Politics are a big part of my life, but I try to keep it all out of my blog (I've learned from past mistakes). However, it was brought to my attention that one of my rotating ads was targeted against gay marriage, and I'm sickened by this oversight. The ads are supposed to be filtered according to my content (which specifies NO religious, political or sexual ads) and I am currently trying to find out why that was changed.
Needless to say, I'm pretty embarrassed. Many of my closest friends are gay and though they know where I stand, I hope it didn't offend any of them.
I don't want this to turn into a huge debate. Let it be known that I am 100% for same sex marriage and equal rights. Love is love.
Edit: EFF Google Adsense. The anti-gay ads are becoming more frequent, even as I changed my preferences to ONLY pre-approved ads. This is ridiculous. I removed it from the blog. Until this gets worked out, I'm done!

Was it a google ad? If so, this isn't the first time it's happened.... I know that Jennine @ The Coveted banned google ads after ads against PROP 8 started to show up on her site...
ReplyDeleteExactly. Love is love!
ReplyDeleteWhatever your preference, love is a feeling that everyone should be able to persue.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about that happening! Was it Google ads? Sometimes those are so far off. I'm very glad to see you stepped up to the plate and said something. Good for you!

The ad is on your page as I'm writing this, something about "preserve marriage", paid for by "Stand for marriage maine". I'm sorry that this is on your blog without your consent, how weird!
ReplyDeleteThe ad is up now, and it says something about protecting children in the classroom. Huh!?
ReplyDeleteAnd you put it perfectly. Love is love. <3
I'm seeing one right now from "Stand for Marriage Maine" about "Don't let public schools teach homosexual marriage". The idiocy of some people, ugh. I hope you get it worked out!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I have never seen them but I agree with you. Love is love. I am not an ignorant person, and I will always listen to peoples view points. However, to discriminate against someone because of their sexual preference? NO Way!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you wrote a blog to make it clear you didn't support such ads :)
I'm a new reader and didn't see the ads but I love that you're putting your foot down on this. :) Love your blog! :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteGood blog and Nice posting.

Thanks Keiko! I'm glad to hear it's gone. the Yes on 1 ads for Maine are just really awful to read/listen to.
ReplyDeleteLove is Love :)
Right now same sex marriage is legal. I'm hoping that Nov 3rds vote has it remaining Legal!
I'm so glad to hear you say this and take action against it. Honestly, if you hadn't done anything about it, I probably would have stopped coming 8D But I greatly appreciate your sense of responsibility and how you know you don't need support from such hateful groups.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I'd be furious with Google if they pulled this crap on me (I already am, for your sake!).
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put; love is love!
ReplyDeleteIm glad to hear you protested!
I agree with the rest of the posters - and you. Very well said - love is love. And good for you for kicking GoogleAds to the curb!
