Lucky, Lucky Gal

It's no secret that I am more of a dress/skirt kind of girl these days, but every once in awhile, it's really nice to just throw on a pair of jeans for a day of errands. It's even better to wear a pair of comfy flat boots and give the ankles a break!

Most of my jeans are MIA (probably left in Florida), so I was really excited when we each received a pair of jeans from PacSun at the Weardrobe NYC Conference. I picked out the Bullhead Hermosa Super Skinny True Gray jeans. Remember the DIY workshop I mentioned? These are the jeans I studded. Several of the girls got a lot more creative but like I said, I really needed jeans! I just kept it simple with pyramid studs on the back pockets and front.

Despite the fact that I was just running errands, it was quite an exciting day! Coach sent a messenger to my apartment with this beautiful bag. It is the bag of my dreams! I have never owned anything this nice before and probably won't ever again, so I'm soaking it up. My sister Amanda, lover of all things luxurious, sent me a text message (upon finding out about the handbag) that said: "You b****." :)

  13. I love this look on you, it's fun to see something so different on you. I do love your colorful dresses and skirts, but this is fun too. I think I will have to agree with your sister on the bag, lol. It's stunning. I am usually not the biggest fan of coach only because I don't like my things to have logos on them, but this one is AHHHHmazing! You are a lucky lady, it is also well deserved.

  17. So it's not just me on a big grey kick this year. Grey jeans and a grey Coach purse from the Weardrobe conference, even when getting swag you colour coordinate!
My sister got a vintage brown leather Coach purse from her mother-in-law (who gave it away cause "brown isn't my colour" haha) and I called my sister a B**** too.

  31. The bag is a lil "sportswear" to me but it looks gorgeous !

And it is nice to see in jeans once in a while, even though we all love your dresses and skirts, it changes a bit, and it looks lovely on you.

  32. That's very fun to see you rocking a pair of jeans and boots since it's so different from what you normally wear. You look fantastic as always!

I'm drooling over that Coach bag. I also love that it's not emblazoned with monograms/logos - just lets the bag speak for itself.

  33. awesome bag (and jeans, too! i would've been subtle with the embellishments too hehe).

funny, because i'm a skirt/dress girl also! i used to wear jeans a lot, but that pretty much changed when i started college.

that, and the fact that i can never find jeans that fit correctly/perfectly. :P

anyway...just wanted to let you know that i finally got around to making + listing the panda costume again! yay! i promised you'd be the first to know.

i have two available, so just let me know if you'd like me to reserve one for you or anything. if not, it's cool; i'm just glad you liked it.

  37. Hi Keiko. I came across your livejournal from way back when and I've always been a fan. I know this is off topic and I know you're an animal lover and you currently have a sick/recovering kitty... Have you ever had to put one of your kitties to sleep before? I've had my Tigger for 14 years (when I was 9 or 10) and now his kidney is failing and we might have to put him to sleep. I cried from the moment the doc said that the best option would be to put him to sleep. We have a week left with him now and I've never had to do this before. How did you cope? Thanks so much.

  38. You studded these jeans up so nicely, I love it!

  39. Jessica,

I'm so sorry to hear that...losing an animal companion is so difficult. I have had numerous animals in my life since I was a wee one, so losing them is something I've often had to deal with. It never gets easier for me, but I will say that having some sort of control gives you closure. My dog Teddy lived a really long life; he was about 16 or 17 (we adopted him as an adult dog when I was little) when we had him put to sleep. That's super old for a golden, whose life expectancy is usually 12-15 years. Basically, we had the vet check him often and when she decided he was in pain and there wasn't anything we could do to improve his quality of life, we made the decision to let him go.

It's so difficult to say that, and to willingly end their lives, but I'm a firm believer in euthanizing our little loved ones if there's nothing to ease their pain and give them quality of life. Keeping them around and letting them suffer is really selfish, even if it seems the opposite. When the time came for Teddy, my mom fed him a bologna sandwich and took him by herself. I wish I was there (I lived four hours away) but I'm glad she was there with him when he passed. I think he was at peace and ready to go, and having my mom there with him made it easier for us all. Knowing he was there with someone who loved him so much must have made it easier for him.

When the time comes for your kitty, stay in the room with him. He'll need you there, even if it's really hard for you. And try not to freak out, because they react to your emotions. It's okay to cry, but pet him and let him know you love him. One of my biggest regrets is from when my first horse, Spanky, had to be put to sleep. I was such a mess that the vet had me escorted out (I was only 13, mind you) and I always worry that I made it harder for her. I wish I would have been there with her; she was my best friend. I wish I could have been there to pet her cheek and tell her it was okay. I hate myself for not pulling it together for her.

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. If Tigger is in pain, and I imagine kidney failure will have similar effects that Kitty Boos temporarily endured, the best thing to do is let him go. I don't know if it's reversible or not; at his age, if his kidneys are really that bad, it might not be reversible. Definitely do your own research first and maybe get a second opinion. But when the time comes, just stay with him and let him know you love him:) And take a million pictures of him while you can, give him all of his favorite treats and a lot of love.

  40. So, that's awesome. Free jeans, bag and a purse? I would go insane!

  41. Keiks. I somehow feel closer to you when I see you in jeans. So punk rock! haha. Maybe one day I'll wear a dress for you and send you a pic to see if it has the same kind of effect on you. Caleb and I have made a decision that a visit is in order sooner than later. Miss you already.
